PrunesMakeYouPoop, in What's a good way to prank your coworker?
  1. Wait until you have to fart while coworker is away from desk.
  2. Position sphincter directly above the tube in the office chair.
  3. Lower chair as far as it will go.
  4. Fart as you raise the chair as high as it will go, sucking the gassy shit particles into the tube.
  5. Walk away.
  6. Watch the carnage when coworker sits and lowers the chair.
Vex_Detrause,

Isn’t the exhaust hole is in the bottom?

PrunesMakeYouPoop,

Depends on the chair, I suppose. It definitely worked on the chairs I had in the US Navy back in 2006.
It doesn't matter though, you're still farting in their chair either way.

Dirk, in What can a senior desktop support tech do who is burned out?
@Dirk@lemmy.ml avatar

With Docker and Linux you could check the opportunities in the field of IT operations.

aniki, in What can a senior desktop support tech do who is burned out?

There’s not enough Linux admins. Come to the dark side. I make so much more money than I ever did doing desktop support.

ablackcatstail,
@ablackcatstail@lemmy.goblackcat.com avatar

The hard part is convincing somebody to hire me without formal production experience. I am in the classic Catch-22 situation: How do I get experience if nobody will give me the opportunity?

aniki,

You’re going to need a portfolio of stuff you’ve built if you want to show you can do it but if you have a nice webpage that you setup professionally and have Linux skills on your resume you’ll get a hit. My company cannot hire competent Linux admins fast enough.

PancakedWaffle,

Go look on upwork for some gigs at your current hourly rate. Once you do one or two the interviews will go much smoother.

Highly recommend this Linux admin path for you. Knowing from personal exp the pay in support desk vs devops, you might 4x your pay inside 3 years.

ablackcatstail,
@ablackcatstail@lemmy.goblackcat.com avatar

Upwork, huh? I’ve never heard of it. Thanks!

multicolorKnight, in Does anyone actually enjoy working out?

I do. I do it every day, at a public gym/pool. It was originally a way to maintain or regain “ability” (don’t call it “fitness”, I’m still old and fat). After a while, you start feeling better, and some time after that, start noticing things are getting worse if you don’t do it.

For me, doing something fun, out of the house with others, helps a lot. Spin class, circuit training, water aerobics, having others around doing the same thing is motivating. I worked with a trainer for a while, they helped come up with things I like, for example, one of my favorites is tossing a medicine ball. Don’t ask me why, but I like that.

If you don’t enjoy it, try something else.

This is a support question, you should have a look at the sidebar

PerogiBoi, in Why is youtube recommending conservative "talking points" to me?
@PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca avatar

Those types of videos have the most engagement. YouTube is trying to show you whatever it thinks will keep you there longer.

Turns out conservative radicalization keeps people longer there. I’ve never googled or watched any Andrew Tate videos but my recommended has at least 3 videos front and center.

justsayit, in What password manager do you recommend?

Plus one for BitWarden for a great low price/free option that’s open source.

1Password if you have a few extra bucks to spend. I find the look and feel to be worth the money despite not being open source.

Kristho,

I agree on this one. I used Bitwarden first - but now I’m on 1Password for both work and personal use.

macwinux, in Why is youtube recommending conservative "talking points" to me?

I bought a new phone a few months back, and just for shits and giggles I tried looking at YouTube Shorts without any account logged in. I clicked on a food Shorts, and within 5 Shorts, I got a “manosphere” video, and within 10 Shorts I got Ben Shapiro.

Unfortunately, fear and rage drive engagement, and these Conservative grifters are more than happy to give it to them and more. That on top of corporations being Capitalists and thus right-wing by default.

Gabbro, in Does anyone else struggle with silence, particularly when trying to sleep?
@Gabbro@kbin.social avatar

I fixed that problem...I never hear silence!

All I hear is eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.......

DarkThoughts,

I've had ear ringing properly once for like 3 weeks. Never had such a hard time sleeping because the quietness just makes it all the more louder. Really drove me insane and was glad when it started to slowly recede. Good chance I would just eff myself if it were permanent.

slimsalm, in Does the reddit style format breed toxicity?

Imo, downvotes is just a disagreement. Being offended by it sounds like a “you” problem, we all have to deal with it.

Upvotes normally give me answers I need for at that moment. Downvotes makes me reassess myself.

I dont think you must read to much into the downvotes. Understand the situation why people might have downvoted you, understand why other people get upvoted, assess the situation. And most of all, understand that not everybody will always agree with you

Joe_0237,

What? people wont agree with me? LIES! (<-- that is a joke). I’m not offended, and i agree, i here, am a truth seeker looking for insight, thanks!

IthronMorn, in What's the point of buying new phones every years?

Z fold user here. This thing has a limited number of times of being folded and unfolded. My early upgrade plan is kinda to prevent the inevitable happening while I’m the device owner.

A free phone from your carrier is never actually free. You will be paying for it over the next 6 months to 2 years.

ilovecheese, in what was your first video game/system you played or remember playing?
@ilovecheese@lemmy.world avatar

Atari 2600! Dragster, Centipede and Pac Man!

Got 'em all on RetroPie these days too.

Pitfall, Yar’s Revenge, River Raid.

Whisper06, in What's the point of buying new phones every years?

Because my simple or brain likes shiny new things.

Strayce,

Right there with you. I’m a sucker for the new shiny and I actually kinda hate it.
