problematicPanther,
@problematicPanther@lemmy.world avatar

whether you’re atheist or not, judaism, christianity and islam (as well as several other smaller religions) are all abrahamic, meaning that they all stem from the same root religion. theyve all evolved over time, but in essence, the god they worship is literally the same one throughout all three.

Kase,

I agree with what you’re saying. I might be wrong here, but I got the impression the person you replied to wasn’t saying that the statement is fictional/wrong, but that the god is fictional

  • Zacryon,

May I interest you in a (not toilet) paper I skimmed back when Covid was still a bigger issue? doi.org/10.1063/5.0013318

In another, newer, paper (again, not the toilet kind of paper) I just found, researchers basically used lasers to see and analyze the spread of aerosol plumes after flushing: doi.org/10.1038/s41598-022-24686-5

    VulKendov,

I am not interested in your (not toilet) papers. I’ve been doing fine so far and I believe that the health benefit is negligible and does not outweigh the impact on my quality of life.

In other words sometimes ignorance is bliss and knowledge can be a curse, I’m not trying to be a neat freak germaphobe.

    Zacryon,

Well, you might be doing fine so far. How about others who walk into your poop-plumes? Hygiene is not always only beneficial for yourself. Some easy to implement practises can go a long way. I think it’s a similar story to how we (should) regularly wash our hands, wash vegetables and fruits before eating and so on.

    JohnDClay,

Is 1 under fed? Usually these charts show extremes in both directions.

    candyman337,

1 is actually mislabeled, that would be your cat from 8 to 20 points, depending on your cat, the smaller the cat the lower the healthy weight is obviously.

If your cat is a healthy weight you will see the silhouette of their ribs when they stand, if your cat is ovular when they stand they are a little overweight, if your cat is more round, your cat is obese, which is not healthy for your cat. Anything above that is incredibly unhealthy.

    Kase,

Not a cat owner, just curious passerby. Where would you mark the difference between healthy and underweight? Or is it more of a thing you notice if they start behaving differently? Or is it something that just never happens?

My sister’s cat used to always go outside and eat a mouse or something if she wanted more food than what they gave her (and sometimes just instead of eating her food, lol), so I wondered if maybe most cats are like that and so you don’t have to worry about underfeeding them.

    candyman337,

Most experts recommend you don’t let your cats outside unless it’s in a closed off yard and you’re supervising. It is super bad for your car to just eat random things outside, that’s how they get diseases and die

On underweight cats the ribcage will be very visible, and the stomach will be too small

    https://sh.itjust.works/pictrs/image/726c25e1-74bf-479d-bc66-fc5921e2d04d.png

    Caesium,

it’s more common to see obese cats than underfed ones, especially on the internet. Without the stupid ‘chonker’ names, this chart could be an actual wake-up call for some owners browsing the internet, I’d hope.

    Ziglin,

    But he’s hungy…

    candyman337, (edited )

A fully grown house cat is between 8 and 20 pounds, unless your cat is bone structurally very large, 20 points is already overweight. But sometimes it’s hormones or lethargy that can cause a cat to gain weight. I have our cats on scheduled eating times and they don’t get more food after their two meals aside from occasional treats. I have 3 cats that are the right weight and one that’s overweight. He’s overweight because he’s a fixed boy and in their older age they gain weight because of lower testosterone. He is, however, only 14 pounds. That being said, there are circumstances where being over 20 pounds is not always the owner’s fault like in the case of a thyroid problem

Every time. All 13 menu options, “legitimate interest”, hidden tick boxes, big fat “YES” button and small grey “confirm my choices” button… ironically, if they didn’t try so hard, I think I wouldn’t care as much.

    Dicska, (edited )

There was an update to a word game on my phone, so they made me choose between accepting everything or clicking through 81 vendors (and there was no ‘reject all’ button). I went with the latter, and every single vendor’s ‘consent’ was automatically off and ‘legitimate interest’ on. That made me think: “what’s included in the legitimate interest bit?”. There was a question mark circle next to it, so I clicked:

    How does legitimate interest work?

Some vendors are not asking for your consent, but are using your personal data on the basis of their legitimate interest.

Maybe I got it wrong, but to me it felt like “yeah, we will just simply do some things regardless and slap a ‘legitimate interest’ sticker on it, even though it falls under the same ‘we want to sell your data’ category.”

    arken,

This annoys me so much. Who tf deemed their interest in my browsing habits “legitimate”? I sure didn’t.

…I should look for a new job, perhaps

    AlternatePersonMan,

Doesn’t hurt to check out your options. And almost any job will welcome you back (usually at your new pay rate) if you change your mind down the road.

Over my career, lateral moves have netted me +80%, +30%, and 20%. Not to mention quality of work/life improvements.

Most companies basically offer a < 5% raise every year, which is just around inflation. Maybe a 10% bump if you get promoted. The wider world values your skills much more.

    hydrospanner,

Follow the ABCs. Always Be Checking.

It doesn’t cost you a dime to keep your resume up to date and to check Indeed and Linked In one every few weeks for jobs like yours in your area.

Worst case, you look around and find there’s nothing in your area paying much better than you are currently earning. Congrats. You’re in as good a position as you can reasonably expect.

More likely though, you’ll see one or more of a few other trends in your search:

    • Employers are all looking for a specific skill adjacent to your skill set that you don’t have. Might be time to look into a class or something to pick this skill up and increase your potential.
    • Employers around you are all willing to pay more than you’re making but want more experience. In this case you can sit tight…or throw your hat into the ring even with less experience. They may take a flier on you, especially in this tight labor market.
    • Employers around you are willing to pay more for your skills and experience. This is most likely but you now need to check out why, and decide if you’re interested.

Even if you’re not really interested (maybe the specific opening is too far away or not a big pay increase or something) it may still be worth reaching out, even if just for interview practice. Lots of people really struggle with interviews, and being able to do one where you’re not really intent on landing the job may be a valuable experience.
