I will say I liked how mildly interesting on Reddit was strict OC only.

murderpixel, in Armadillo Lizards are real-life Pokémon

Where can I get one of those? He so cute!

Eheran,

This is exactly the problem: It is cute/whatever, I want one at home.

blariekoek,

Do don’t: “The species Ouroborus cataphractus is classified by the IUCN as near threatened. This is mostly due to a general cessation of collection for the pet trade, which was a significant drain on populations but is now illegal.”

name_NULL111653,

They need to help the wild population, and start a legal, domesticated population in conservation centres for rehabilitation research and the pet trade.

That would simultaneously end the illegal pet trade with a sustainable alternative, provide research into how to take care of the wild population, preserve the wild ecosystem by having a separate population for pets and humane research, allow the captivity population to get used to humans without damaging the wild population’s survival instincts, and open the possibility of humane and loving reptile keepers to have one of these cute dragon-kitten-lizard creatures as a pet.

Ummm… Actually… it’s one giant spot. The white is a “background” coloring (see presumed-Mom, to the right).

Catoblepas, in Spotless giraffe born in a Tennessee zoo

I wonder if this is a reflection of the ancestral coloration of giraffes (loss/improper functioning of the genes that give them spots) or a neat individual mutation? I bet the genetics would be fun to look at

Thehalfjew, in One of the claims on this Belvita packaging only appears in English

I love the discussion here as to possible reasons why the labeling is different.

That said, there’s a very good chance it’s just because the initial version had 3, got translated, then someone added a 4th item and it never got translated.

paddytokey,

I know someone responsible for these labels and descriptions for a fairly large company, can absolutely confirm this will happen a lot. The product has to go out to the stores and there is just no time to get these translation anymore. I also know of products that shipped to large stores with false information on the label, knowingly because changing it would take too much time and money.

Nonetheless loved by its mommy. Love diversity 😁

ninjabard, in Spotless giraffe born in a Tennessee zoo

The fact that the zoo is not considering Spot as a name is criminal.

They should name it Spic 'n Span cuz it's spotless.

chowder,

I can already see the unofficial nickname Tennesseans will give it.

imgonnatrythis, in Spotless giraffe born in a Tennessee zoo

At what point are we just going to call it a long necked horse?
