It’s basically a continuation of VIA’s x86 tech (they sold the cyrix processors for a while if anyone remembers them). I assumed it was just copyright theft, but these are legitimately licensed x86 chips.
Apparently the current generation of these is like the Ryzen 3000 series, but I can’t find any actual benchmarks, so I’ll take that with a bit of salt. I doubt they will have the same power efficiency as the OP ones since the clock is apparently at 3.7GHz.
This is much cooler than I initially realised though. A viable 3rd player can keep competitor prices down so we would all benefit even if most of us aren’t buying these chips
At most both of those are a 3-4 (x86) CPU instructions. There’s no way any regex engine is going to be remotely equivalent if we’re talking about efficiency.
Firstly, thank you so much for providing the means for me to cut Reddit out of my life, I feel like I’m engaging with content in a much more deliberate way since, and honestly it’s been a massive improvement to my mental health in a way that I was completely oblivious to there even being a problem before.
Anyway, the question—regarding things happening entirely out of your control, what would be the best and worst things that could happen to lemmy from your perspectives? And as an extension, what are your goals for it?
It’s not even that niche imo, but just more music production content in general. There was an instance focused on this a few months ago, but it seems to have gone and not returned.
On Reddit, you have communities of music makers around theory, various genres, various software, synths, and deals. It’s definitely a source of inspiration I miss.
Like why bother at that point? No one is going to eat that egg and be glad the hotel gave it to them. It’s just going to be a bad experience just before they leave, and potentially put them off choosing the hotel again.
