Anticorp,

It was somewhat safe when there were like 2 billion people on the planet. Not so much when there’s 8 billion.

I figure that’s about what a CD used to cost back in the day, adjusted for inflation. We were paying $16 for a CD back in the early 90’s. Records are probably more expensive to make, and often have really cool artwork as inserts. There’s the thrift store too though. About half of my record collection are original presses that I got from the thrift store for twenty five cents each. They don’t sound as good, but they’re pretty neat. Sometimes I buy a record at the thrift store just because it has cool artwork, like the Chicago album that has pressed engraving artwork, like dollar bills.

Edit: wow, CDs actually cost more back then adjusted for inflation. $36.12 in 1992.

Resources are finite, especially during war. They don’t want to poison or burn food that they need to eat. The idea is that you stop the forward march of the enemy before he gets to your food stores. If you can’t stop his advance then you have bigger problems than the enemy looting your food supplies.

Anticorp,

Fart. He farts in their general direction.

Anticorp,

Possibly. I have seen many drawings depicting Santa being threatened by technology.

Anticorp,

Oh boy, you’re about to learn a lesson in humility and perseverance.

Ironically, my Chevy has been way more reliable than my wife’s Honda. They’re both the same year, and about the same mileage too. Actually, I think my Chevy has more mileage now, since we usually drive that, when we go out together.

The DCEU ends not with a bang, but a wimper. (lemmy.ml)

10 years after Zod’s snapped neck, Martha, “some kinda Suicide Squad”, CGI moustache, rennouncing your wish, the hiearchy of power changing, and Speed Force PS1 graphics, the DC Extended Universe finally comes to a close. And it ends the same way it started - with a Rotten score....

Does "Rock music is evil / of the devil" have racist roots?

As a Christian most of the circles I’m around are pretty chill…no stone-cold fundamentalists. But I have been around people (and even had family members) who are 100% convinced that rock music is evil and will lead people to engage in witchcraft and draw pentagrams all over their home....

Anticorp, (edited )

That’s a completely different perspective than I’ve ever heard in church. I grew up in a fundamentalist household and the whole “rock is of the devil” attitude was fueled mostly by artists like Black Sabbath and Danzig, where they have a demonic stage presence, and lyrics which are worldly. Danzig used actual devil imagery and pentagrams in his media, and Ozzie was known as the Prince of Darkness, so the Christians weren’t really reaching to say that the artists were opposed to Christianity. Your interpretation probably has much older roots in Southern Baptist movements, which aren’t prevalent in all denominations.

Anticorp,

You can help yourself a lot here by making commits every time you make a meaningful change. A feature doesn’t need to be complete to commit major checkpoints along the path to completion. That’s what feature branches are for. Commit often. It’ll help you think of messages, and it’ll help you recover in the case of catastrophe.

Blade barrier is fucking amazing!

We just got ambushed in a courtyard by about 15 enemies standing on a walkway above us, with no immediately obvious way for us to get up there. We were sitting ducks. So Shadowheart cast blade barrier across the entire walkway. In addition to doing a lot of damage every turn, it imposes difficult terrain. All of the enemies...

She was so slow for most of the game that I couldn’t make much use of those. Near the end she got some boots that gave her freedom of movement, and longstrider, and then I started doing the same thing with her. Just using dash and running over next to everyone. LOL

Edit: it was the courtyard right before you start climbing to get to the brain. I dropped an ice storm on top of the group with the spectator, and that was pretty satisfying. It killed everything except for the spectator. Is that the courtyard you’re talking about? My favorite playing with fire moment was a fire bolt in the sewers on all of those grease monsters. Half the sewer went up in flames!

Anticorp,

What’s weird is that I still had her harpers for the fight. I guess because she offered them right before telling me she hates me. It was a strange scene for sure. Anyways, I just beat the game. It’s an amazing game, the best I’ve ever played.

Anticorp,

Square Cash is the name of a CC POS company that is responsible for leaving all the tipping options on by default and setting them very high.

Anticorp,

Exactly. It’s all about money & control and it always has been. If they wanted to get people to stop smoking, they’d mandate that the tobacco companies remove all of the chemicals from cigarettes that make the nicotine a free base form to increase their addictive properties.

Anticorp,

That doesn’t mean he hated them. He condemned their behavior and their hypocrisy. He called them out. That is not the same as hate.

Anticorp,

That there is a doodad, not to be confused with a thingamajig.

Anticorp,

I blocked that community because it dominated every feed.

Anticorp,

I can’t use Fusion 360 on Linux, so I dual boot windows. But that’s the only time I ever go back. I don’t even run a bootloader with options and you’d never know Windows is on my machine unless you interrupted the boot process and checked boot drives. Getting into Windows is a manual process on my system.

Anticorp,

Somehow, amazingly, I walked away with nothing but a concussion.
