Vespair,

Scroll down to the “Reception” section, it’s in the first paragraph. It’s hard to get the full effect from that paragraph though, as B^U became an automatically response to anything Buckley or C-A-D related for a long while. It was more of a textual social meme than an image macro’ed meme so it doesn’t cast as long of a shadow today, but I’ll always associate Tim with B^U first.

Vespair,

Loss is a good meme, but imo B^U was the superior CAD meme.

Also fuck Tim Buckley, still.

Vespair,

Why assume that though? The Infinity Gauntlet isn’t a Monkey’s Paw, it reads beyond the words and answers the intent of the wielder. So much so, in fact, that it even includes subconscious thoughts and feelings as part of its interpretation. I see often these ideas predicated on the Gauntlet working on Monkey Paw logic despite that being clearly and specifically not how it operates within canon.

Vespair,

No, the desired effects was to undo Thanos’s snap, not double the human population. This means that all of the gut bacteria got unsnapped exactly the same as everyone else

Vespair,

Now this is good Infinity Gauntlet critique! This is a legit problem that honestly should have been tackled in the comics

Vespair, (edited )

Yeah you’re correct, my bad. In the films, however.

edit: I guess they kind of tackle the issue, although they for some reason seemed to focus more on where these people go rather than how to handle the sudden resource strain

Vespair,

Snapping half the life forms also snaps half of the world’s gut bacteria. If we removed half of the gut bacteria from those who weren’t snapped, that would be removing 75% of the universe’s gut bacteria, not 50%.

Vespair,

Yeah the first year of recreational in Colorado there was so many photos of girl scouts selling outside dispensaries.

Probably sold record cookies that year, too

Vespair,

You’re allowed to use profanity on the internet

Vespair,

Oh jesus christ can we please leave this stupid circumcision bullshit on reddit?

Vespair,

It’s “real” in that it’s not photoshopped, but it was never really used and was always just a dumb joke for social media:

babygaga.com/truth-about-daddys-sticker-chart-rev…

y’all taking literal boomer humor at face value. That’s embarrassing

Vespair,

Sorry, the “y’all” was directed at the rest who weren’t questioning this bait; I didn’t mean to imply it was towards you

Vespair,

All good, it was an understandable way to read my comment and entirely my fault for being unclear. But I think we’re good. Cheers ✌

Vespair,

S TIER: Shallot, Garlic

A TIER: Leek

F TIER: All of the others

Vespair,

Build a man a fire and he’ll be warm for an hour; light a man on fire and he’ll be warm for the rest of his life

Vespair,

Nor would a cacophony of praise, but at least one of the two presented options would be authentic

Vespair,

I guess I’m fine with pizzacake’s awful zero-punchline comics being here on Lemmy, I just hope her stupid cult doesn’t follow and this community doesn’t turn into some pizzacake safe fan space where you literally aren’t allowed to say anything that isn’t directly kissing her ass, like /r/comics.

Vespair,

Wait… How am I missing out on all this NSFW content? I’m just seeing Linux and Star Trek memes, somebody help me find the titties!

Vespair,

Hey now, that’s unfair. It’s Star Trek references, Linux memes, and disingenuous leftist in-fighting!

Vespair,

Isn’t Mastodon the Twitter alternative? I never understood the appeal of Twitter so I don’t get the need for an alternative. Anytime I hear mastodon mentioned I’m confused by what the heck people could possibly be using it for

Vespair,

And gross. Petition to replace all onions with their vastly superior cousins, the shallot.

Vespair, (edited )

Disney adults are a bit lame, yeah, but I swear they have nothing on the demographic that truly deserves the crown for lamest and most cringe but somehow flies under the radar:

Harry Potter adults

And for the record, people are allowed to be lame. It doesn’t make them bad, it just makes them lame. I’ll defend their right to be lame forever, but it’s also okay to tease them lightly about it, so long as it stays good-natured. Don’t take life so serious.

Vespair, (edited )

Why are we infantilizing adults? Interpersonal relationships are complex and nuanced; we can acknowledge and even warn against the potential dangers of severe age-gap relationships without insulting the autonomy and choices of those involved. These neo-puritanical bullshit tendencies creeping in on the left needs to stop; it’s a trojan horse for the next generation of conservatives. Reject non-nuanced conservative-bate thinking.
