angrystego,

Yeah, but Mexico has more letters in common with mexit and is overall the more funny option. Why have realism when you can have fun?

angrystego,

Because the post is not about aliens. It’s about people. Aliens serve here to help you see the problem from the outside, to not use what you know about the animal. It’s supposed to show you the reflection of our way of thinking about fossils.

angrystego,

I’m all for it, let’s get more planets!

angrystego,

Don’t fixate on the alien part. That part is not supposed to be realistic, because it doesn’t really represent aliens - it represents us people.

It’s the same kind of alien trope used in Star Trek to represent different aspects of humans. It’s not what aliens would probably really be like (trully alien).

It’s a tool for illustrating human behaviour and it works decently well.

angrystego,

What?

angrystego,

It’s not just about systems, It’s about conditions. Certain conditions make certain strategies more profitable - see game theory. I think low population density and hard life conditions cam lead to kindness being among the winning strategies.

angrystego,

Drop the fascism and we can talk.

angrystego,

I was hoping I didn’t.

angrystego,

Fortunately, we’re doing our best to make our life conditions harder in the future and possibly to lower the population as well!

Of course, there can be other sets of conditions that lead to kindness win. Like probably heavy cultural persecution of selfishness. The conditions can also be pretty complex. I wonder whether those things have been studied in some meaningful way.

angrystego,

I wish they were able to get back on track. I enjoyed the MCU ride and I believe Feige still has it in him.

angrystego,

The primary difference is what it’s all about. You can ignore similarities with other restaurants like there’s food involved and such. The fact they are sitting in their cars is the point.

angrystego,

Can anyone comment on the differences among the regions?

angrystego,

The spell accidentally gave the cat a second set of eyes instead of the ability to speak.

angrystego,

I like the way you explained not all the people on the phone are shitty parents! I think it’s a very nice and positive way of thinking about people. Just for the sake of balance I would like to add that shitty parents do exist, unfortunately. But I agree not all people that seem shitty at first glance are!

angrystego,

Wow, that’s totally fascinating. Thank you!

Why wasn't NYC's Central Park concept copied by other cities?

I’m talking about a massive park in the absolute heart of the city. Located such that is naturally surrounded by city high rises. *People are giving examples of parks that are way off in the boonies. I’m trying to say located centrally, heart of the city, you know where the high rises are. Yes I understand nyc has more, the...

angrystego,

Possible answers include: Because this concept is not suitable for every city. Because there are other ways to introduce greenery into the city center, like many bigger or smaller parks.

angrystego,

This only works for outdoor cats and in areas with plenty of prey. Most indoor cats don’t do well if left on their own and outdoor cats often struggle too.

I think that’s because the narrow scientific term domestication is used in casual speach with a shifted meaning. And that’s because we don’t have any other expression for animals that you can be friends with that would sound as cool as domesticated (taming is too tame).

Edit: Sorry, got lost in the threads. I’ll leave it here because it is still kind of on topic. I guess I should also add that domestication is a process and the line where an animal is considered domesticated is arbitrary.
