angrystego,

I guess there are different kinds of people and for some, Duo works, while for others it doesn’t. I still think it’s a great tool

angrystego,

Except it works, I’ve seen people learn a language with it to the point they’re capable of quite good communication in about 2 years.

The DCEU ends not with a bang, but a wimper. (lemmy.ml)

10 years after Zod’s snapped neck, Martha, “some kinda Suicide Squad”, CGI moustache, rennouncing your wish, the hiearchy of power changing, and Speed Force PS1 graphics, the DC Extended Universe finally comes to a close. And it ends the same way it started - with a Rotten score....

angrystego,

Movie making and planning takes a lot of time and money. It’s done in advance. You can’t just stop everything that’s been in production from releasing.

angrystego,

In totalitarian countries, those who listen to certain types of music are persecuted, because it links them with demografic that can be threatening to the regime. Even if your country is not totalitarian now, the existence of this data could be potentionally harmful to you in the future (just like any data, really).

What is your unpopular flim opinion

I’ll go first. Mine is that I can’t stand the Deadpool movies. They are self aware and self referential to an obnoxious degree. It’s like being continually reminded that I am in a movie. I swear the success of that movie has directly lead to every blockbuster having to have a joke every 30 seconds

angrystego,

I thought Alien 3 was popular. I’ll give you an unpopular opinion: Alien 4 was pretty okay and I’d watch it again. Predator 2 is an overall beloved movie, just like Terminator 2.

angrystego,

That’s not universally true. I know several people with PhD who have encyclopedic knowledge completely outside their specialisation. Some people are just super intelligent, talented and have enormous memory. The world is not fair.

angrystego,

Not really. Babies have brown fat as default. Adults have white fat which can turn brown in response to cold exposure (not as much as in babies, so it’s also called beige fat). Brown of beige though, it works the same - there’s a high count of mitochondria in the cells and the tissue can produce heat and make you feel (and be) warmer. It also helps with weight loss, stimulates the immune system and lowers inflammation.

angrystego,

The Flash is not MCU. The rest is true.

angrystego,

Because the post is not about aliens. It’s about people. Aliens serve here to help you see the problem from the outside, to not use what you know about the animal. It’s supposed to show you the reflection of our way of thinking about fossils.

angrystego,

It’s not just about systems, It’s about conditions. Certain conditions make certain strategies more profitable - see game theory. I think low population density and hard life conditions cam lead to kindness being among the winning strategies.

angrystego,

I wish they were able to get back on track. I enjoyed the MCU ride and I believe Feige still has it in him.

angrystego,

The spell accidentally gave the cat a second set of eyes instead of the ability to speak.

angrystego,

Yeah, but Mexico has more letters in common with mexit and is overall the more funny option. Why have realism when you can have fun?

angrystego,

Came for the slang, stayed for the music!

angrystego,

This only works for outdoor cats and in areas with plenty of prey. Most indoor cats don’t do well if left on their own and outdoor cats often struggle too.

angrystego,

Doing something physical is so much healthier than doing nothing. It’s not just an illusion, it can really help people to get back on track.

angrystego,

Yeah, I think people thought he was talking about a cat and had a different experience.

angrystego,

The article contains 3 photos of the cutie.

Leave Texas and other Draconian states and risk getting pulled over for driving pregnant? Nope, just have the pills mailed from California. (www.cbsnews.com)

California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a new law on Wednesday that aims to stop other states from prosecuting doctors and pharmacists who mail abortion pills to patients in places where the procedure is banned. California already has a law protecting doctors who provide abortions from out-of-state judgments.

angrystego,

They were trying to explain the religious view. For those groups abortion is murder of an unborn child. It doesn’t matter that there’s no harm to the society - they see it as a harm to the child. Comparing it to murder was spot on, because that’s exactly how those people see it.

angrystego,

Do people call unrelated children that they’re fond of a nephew/niece, just like in some families children call friendly adults uncle/aunt?
