real, being neurodivergent makes this 10x as relatable

then just press ctrl alt del if you want a system interrupt??? there’s a reason they have bindings for both. it’s not much harder, the task manager doesn’t exist solely for killing some program that won’t respond.

how is it dumb? literally just press ctrl shift esc

netherlands, denmark, maybe germany, maybe finland. i’d most rather live in the netherlands or possibly denmark, although it’d probably make more sense for me to want to live in germany or finland because i don’t speak dutch or danish lmao. regardless though getting permanent residence in denmark or finland is practically a hopeless goal for a majority of people, so they’re basically out of the question

i can get slovak, maybe german citizenship based on descent (i’m in the process of getting the stuff i need from the slovak government to apply for citizenship but they really take their sweet time) and i’m mostly a software guy so it’d probably make the most sense to move to one of those, however the netherlands probably holds way better opportunities for me

for most people getting into another country (especially europe) is out of the question though, you either have to have extremely marketable work experience (like 3-5 years as an engineer or developer) or you have to happen to qualify for citizenship by descent and have the birth/marriage/death/citizenship/residence documents for it (e.g. anyone who had italian citizenship since 1860, anyone who lived in an area controlled by hungary ever since hungary existed, anyone who was polish 1920 or later, anyone who was czechoslovak or german for the past century, an irish grandfather)

Larger file size means significantly larger cost when you’re working with lots of data… especially when transferring data over the internet

That’s all Israelis including non-Jews afaik, when we specify Israeli Jews the number is allegedly at least 50-60% being of mainly European descent.

About 45% of people in prisons are in on drug charges and 5% are in on immigration charges (according to the Beareu of Prisons). So that’s a third to half on BS charges alone since many drug charges are for possession.

Here’s a more apt analogy: It’d be like killing everyone in North Korea to get Kim Jong Un and pals

force, (edited ) to lemmyshitpost in The lamest countries

Saying “this section of the planet belongs to a specific race because they’re fractionally descended from one of the people that lived there a long time ago” is dumb as fuck. Modern people have 0 connection to Jews that long ago and most modern Israeli Jews aren’t actually ethnically similar to Jews thousands of years ago, most Israelis are primarily European descendant or other non-Palestinian descendant.

Modern Israelis are not the same group as the various historical groups referred to as “Jews”. Your logic is flawed.

force, (edited ) to asklemmy in What is Something Scientific that you just don't believe in at all?

Yes, and people that challenge the science who then become scientists actually research/experiment thenselves. They don’t go and claim science is false until they have actual reason/evidence to believe so. One can question science all they want when they do their own science on the matter and it isn’t handily disproved beyond reasonable doubt by existing evidence.

Most science deniers do not do that. Making anti-science claims without obtaining solid, consistent evidence is not science.

What are you on about?

force, (edited ) to asklemmy in What is Something Scientific that you just don't believe in at all?

“There’s no law against it” is a laughably stupid reason to do something. They’re free to do it but everyone else is free to acknowledge that their uneducated/misinformed skepticism is harmful to society and that their opinions are meaningless to those who aren’t dumb. Leave the contemporary science denial to those who actually somewhat know what they’re talking about.

Ye AFAIK Slovenian is considered a very different language by most and Macedonian is significantly more grammatically similar to Bulgarian. I’m not very sure about Macedonian tho.

force, (edited ) to linuxmemes in When your kids misbehave

A majority of linguists consider Serbocroatian to be one language, there are many distinct dialects (with different countries having different standards). The writing system is irrelevant, the writing system isn’t the language (this can be seen in Mongolian, Tibetan, Hindustani, Persian, Kazakh, previously Azerbaijani, and contemporary Chinese languages as well). Also you can write Serbian in Latin script (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romanization_of_Serbian)

They are no less mutually intelligible than what are considered different dialects of other languages. In fact as someone who can read Russian & Polish I can understand a good amount of written Serbocroatian with trouble (it’s a lot harder than reading something like Ukrainian due to linguistic distance), it’s significantly closer between Serbian & Croatian varieties. Often people on media/politics pretend not to understand the other though due to mutual hatred from nationalism.

I would like to spend a lot of time on the language one day, I haven’t done much besides read some from grammar books on it. I like it a lot.
