I have one 50 year old friend with very little tech know how and his kids set him up with a good smartphone. I saw his family about a year ago and his kids noted that their dad often sits up until about 2 or 3 in the morning at the kitchen table just scrolling through tiktok videos. He sent them to me about once a day until I had to block him and tell him directly to stop sending me this stuff. He’s since become ‘aware’ of his addiction and stops sending out videos as often as he did before. He still scrolls through thousands and thousands of videos a day.

It would all be funny if it wasn’t so frightening at the same time.

If you want to live the American Dream, you’ve got to be asleep.

Probably, that’s what it meant a hundred years ago … but over the past many decades in popular culture, the American Dream has meant that everyone has a chance of becoming filthy rich and a multi millionaire

Yes it became prominent after 9/11 … but that kind of behaviour has been going on for a century and more distinctively after the Second World War

Look up the history of Allen/Foster Dulles and their work for American Corp in the 20s and 30s … their enthusiasm for war in the 40s … and then with the CIA in the 50s and 60s … the actions of which led to what happened in the 70s and 80s … which later on affected what happened in the 90s and 2000s. It makes you understand that even if the US people don’t want a war … those in positions of power and wealth enjoy war and conflict because it makes them money and spreads their power. We accuse other nations of doing the same but America does it while draped in a democracy flag and an ugly tattoo across their forehead that says ‘freedom’.

The Dulles brothers did legitimately help the Allied effort during the Second World War … but leading up to and during the actual war years, they were also known to play favourites, court unscrupulous characters, take part in shady deals and help one side or the other depending on what business was involved. Then when the war was over, it was far easier and more acceptable to be a fascist or even a Nazi than a communist. Look at the history and background to a lot of German and Nazi professionals, academics, scientists and military leaders after the war … many of them were courted by US intelligence to work for the US while disregarding their past offences.

Allen Dulles probably single handedly sabotaged any kind of neutral or positive relationship with the Communists … this isn’t meant to say that the Communists were a positive political movement … Allen Dulles was instrumental in making a bad situation worse for probably 20 years. Even JFK wanted to build a relationship with the Soviets but people like Dulles just wanted fear, anger and war without negotiation or compromise.

When you start reading the history of the Dulles brothers … it gets hard to differentiate them from the fascists they supposedly fought in the Second World War … they were more like the Nazis without the overt Aryanism

Same in Canada because everyone in power would rather spend all their time energy and expertise dismantling the health care system and privatize it than in actually making it work the way it should.

The only incentive to privatization is that a small group of people can make a lot of money.

Keeping things public doesn’t make many people wealthy and it only provides equal benefits to everyone, which everyone takes for granted and never appreciate until those benefits are gone.

Two years ago we got an early blast of cold weather … it froze my Halloween Jack-o’-lanterns leading up to Halloween.

After Halloween, I kept two frozen pumpkins and put them on top of two snowmen on my front lawn. They stayed there all winter and people thought they were great.

Until the first thaw in late March, the pumpkins went from happy faces to half dead zombie grandpa … then finally morphed into a decomposed green black blob on a snowhill.

It’s getting weird out there.

I deal with a few bureaucrats and office workers. Up until about a year ago, their emails were pretty simple and they sounded a lot like someone just tapped them out while on the toilet.

Now they sound robotic and machine like. Very polite, to the point, concise and very professional. A year ago these people would just ask a vague question and not really know what to say.

Now they’ve automatically become professional writers sending me a polite note.

It’s good … but it just makes me wonder where all this is going.

It’s putting lipstick on a pig … no matter how much you dress it up, it’s still a pig that likes to eat garbage and cover itself in mud.

Depends on where the sexual organs are … which leads to the question … if the Enterprise had sexual organs, where would they be?
