lingh0e, to asklemmy in Have you ever seen a rudolph moment happen in real life?

As a fellow spreadsheet nerd, can you explain your plan of attack? Like, how many dishes and how varied are the cooking temps/times in order to make everything come out of the oven and off the stove in time? And do you account for variables like washing utensils for reuse and/or operator error? I’m so uncoordinated in the kitchen that I can turn a 45 minute recipe into a 90 minute recipe just because I’m scrambling to find the right spices or washing utensils between uses or I spend too much time measuring things with absolute precision.

If I could plot out the entirety of the process in a series of Excel tables, I might actually be able to cook a meal efficiently.

lingh0e, to asklemmy in What is an obscure piece of media or videogame that you think nobody else here has heard of?

Triplets of Bellville was nominated for two Oscars. It lost Best Animated Feature to Finding Nemo.

lingh0e, to asklemmy in What groups you are unwillingly associated with? How you handle it?

Not me. I divorced humanity many years ago.

“Methodist lay speaker”?

lingh0e, to asklemmy in What are some generational differences between millennials and Gen Z ?

A subscription to Nintendo Power didn’t count.

He’s literally training to play a professional wrestler in this picture. Starring alongside Zach Efron, who got even more swole.

lingh0e, to memes in What a feeling

Once I was walking out of a Target. I passed by a woman and her maybe 6 or 7 year year old kid just in time to hear the kid say “mommy that guy creeps me out”.

Thanks to three concussions before age 5… and my entire 20’s being spent in a drug haze… my memory is pretty shot. But I remember that encounter as clear as day.

I’m sure I’ve received a few honest to goodness unsolicited compliments, but they don’t stick in my mind as much as the derision.

You don’t know many actual working cooks, do you?

Green olive pizza is best pizza.

lingh0e, to programmer_humor in Programmer tries to explain binary search to the police

A police officer being unable to think in such a fashion is exactly why no one could solve the see-saw riddle on Brooklyn 99.

lingh0e, to linux in Based KDE 🗿

You’re casually blowing off two of the main reasons why I still have to use Windows.

Is there a Linux alternative to Excel that will allow me to reliably write and execute VBA macros that I can then deploy to my windows using co-workers?

Is there a Linux alternative to Photoshop? Doesn’t even need to be the most current version. I’d be happy with something that is functionally comparable to Photoshop 7.

I’m not being glib with those questions either. It’s been probably ten years since I’ve really used Linux. If there are legitimate alternatives I’d absolutely give it another go.

lingh0e, to asklemmy in What's a sci-fi or fantasy book or series that you want to see adapted as a movie/television series?

World War Z. It needs to be adapted as an HBO limited series.

Ads are not the same thing as insanely granular data harvesting.

lingh0e, to asklemmy in Which books have the worst video adaptation?

I still hate how Max Brooks said “Now, it’s a little unlike my book, but still good in it’s own right!” Because it wasn’t.

Yeah. It really bugs me when people are like “it’s still a good zombie movie.”

It is a bad movie. Regardless of genre.
