I absolutely love flying dreams, not for the actual flying, but because I always use my skill to get out of bad/unwanted situations. I’ll be in a foot chase and I’ll just zing off into the sky. I’m also the only one who can fly, so I show off a lot.
Before I had a car with a remote, I really liked Keyport organizers. They’re a good way to stop keys from getting clanky and stabby in your pocket. And they have a snazzy flashlight and pocket knife. They’re a fun fidget too.
I use ones from recipe books. I like that the recipe is in a book because
The screen doesn’t turn off when I’m cooking.
The recipe usually fits on a page, so I don’t need to touch it after I start.
I can scribble my modifications on it with a pencil.
I mark the good ones with torn up bits of paper sticking out.
I like having a bunch of recipe books around. Most of them were gifts, so cooking from them reminds me of who I got them from.
I’ve tried bookmarks to websites, copying recipes to Google Docs/Keep. It feels like work. Worse, when I’m cooking, I need a way to keep my phone/tablet screen on. I’m usually listening to a podcast or using a timer on my phone, so then I need to switch apps, etc.
I’m in the market for a Linux friendly ultralight laptop to check web apps and run terminal, nothing fancier then that. Do any cheap systems exits these days? I was looking at a chrome book but apparently the mediatek chip doesn’t play nicely with FOSS....
Assuming that boys are socialized to be more confident, bold, and outspoken, the end result is that men will end up talking over women. In an open forum setting, such as a professional or educational one, when the floor is open to anyone, it seems like men are more likely to speak up first....
When dealing with small groups, I ask participants for their perspective by name. The loudest doesn’t go first, and everyone gets equal-ish time. That doesn’t scale to a large forum though.

I didn’t see Star Wars until I was in my twenties. It isn’t a great set of movies. A lot of people really like it. And now power to them! But it’s not a great conversational gambit.
Stuff that’s entirely subjective, like their enjoyment of TV shows, movies, how they feel about religion, etc.
I get that these things mean a lot to the speaker, but its just a statement I can either agree with or disagree with. I can’t really have a conversation, since it’s personal preference.
China had received international condemnation for the treatment of Uyghurs (recently) and other groups (historically). Rwanda’s treatment of minorities was pretty big news a while back. I don’t think you’d need to look too far for coverage on the treatment of recent immigrants in the EU.

Have you ever come across some sort of container or organizer for anything that ended up being strangely useful?
I’m not a natural organizer, but I’m starting to appreciate things that help me organize as I get older....
[Discussion] How do you store/organize your recipes?
Hello everyone, I’m curious about how everyone here store their recipes and organize them (and looking for ideas for me too)....

What makes a smartphone useful to you?
Always had a cheap desktop computer and never thought a phone was worth it. Is there a reason people like me should reconsider?
They are definitely talking about me (lemmy.blahaj.zone)
This one is about you too, right?
Excluding the obvious ones such as politics, what topics can't you stand listening to people talk about?
For me it’s detailed describtions about people’s dreams....
