someguy3,

Remember back then it was more like rugby. *Forward pass was introduced in 1906, maybe this is why they’re testing helmets.

someguy3,

There are, don’t know which levels wear them. They are simple padded helmets. Good for jostling, not for collisions.

someguy3,

Have a before photo?

someguy3,

Need a before photo too.

He was asked to opt for more neutral colors. “I told them no. Compromise in colors is grey,”

Lol.

Had to look up the tedtalk www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDNgnrt_D8w

someguy3,

“How far away is that building?”

“I just don’t know.”

someguy3,

That’s actually an interesting question, how many of the atoms we have today are directly from the big bang?

someguy3,

I would consider a sun forming new atoms to not be atoms from the big bang.

someguy3,

If that’s the case I would say none then. The constitute parts aren’t the item. (How many ships are produced by a forest? None, we use the wood to make the ships.)

someguy3,

Iirc no ship could leave the Island until they verified Napoleon was on the land (not hiding on the ship). So he would hide on the Island so the ship couldn’t leave.

Why wasn't NYC's Central Park concept copied by other cities?

I’m talking about a massive park in the absolute heart of the city. Located such that is naturally surrounded by city high rises. *People are giving examples of parks that are way off in the boonies. I’m trying to say located centrally, heart of the city, you know where the high rises are. Yes I understand nyc has more, the...

someguy3,

Obviously I’m talking about large parks on the scale of central park.

someguy3,

Agreed, but there is something interesting about a huge park that can really get immersed in.

someguy3,

I think having both large and small (and tree lined streets) are good ideas. But there’s something appealing about a large park that you can really immerse yourself in.

someguy3,

Located such that.

Who said I want to use it an excuse for no other parks?

What’s with all the bad faith discussion.

someguy3,

People are giving examples of parks that are way off in the boonies. I’m trying to say located centrally, heart of the city, you know where the high rises are.

someguy3,

Yes I understand nyc has more, the point is centrally located

someguy3,

I want both.

someguy3, (edited )

Central Park was established in 1860 when NYC was 1 million people. Other cities could have seen this good idea and set aside land when they were even smaller.

someguy3,

The whole point was to do it proactively.

someguy3,

Thus the question, why wasn’t it copied more.
