In the suburb I grew up in, a lot of the restaurant workers spoke Spanish, so even at the sushi place the Japanese chef would speak Spanish to the staff, saying gracias could be no different than arigato or thank you lol

Would you really put the blame on piracy for that when there are conglomerates manipulating the entire market? I’m not doubting they exist, but can you name a small business streaming service that would be affected by pirate services? I have never heard of such a company. I’ve seen small streaming services utilizied by libraries but they are on government contracts and tax funded as far as I know.

Also from the US west, I’ve seen a bunch of hot vending machines! In several hospitals and schools in different states, a few gas stations. They will have coffee, tea or cocoa selections, a cup pops out and gets filled with fresh brewed coffee. They were usually around 1.50 to 2 dollars a cup, maybe more expensive now though.

You have tomato sauce packets? It’s funny to think of ketchup as tomato sauce, in the US if you called it that everyone would be confused even though it is really the most accurate thing you could call it

We would call the sauce for burgers, fries etc ketchup, ‘tomato sauce’ in the US would be the sort for pasta, like marinara. If you asked for tomato sauce for a burger people would be very confused lol.

Same, they must not have rolled it out to everyone, I have firefox/ublock origin on PC and android and have yet to see an ad on youtube, and the quality and speed of loading seem to be fine.

I doubt they would ever do this, but I wonder if they have some metric about the user’s likeliness of clicking ads, and prevent more ‘advertisable’ users from blocking the ads but let some keep blocking them because it wouldn’t make as much of a difference, or they would just leave youtube. If my adblock stopped working I would stop using youtube, without a doubt. I am allergic to ads.

I’ve heard it in lyrics from long before twitch existed

In Black slang, to cap about something is “to brag,” “to exaggerate,” or “to lie” about it. This meaning of cap dates back to the early 1900s.

Today 4 years ago, Dr. Li Wenliang warned of a suspected SARS patient in a Wuhan WeChat group. Soon later, he was arrested for “making false comments on the Internet about unconfirmed SARS outbreak.” (harakahdaily.net)

Dr. Wenliang’s message went viral, becoming the earliest warning of what we now know today as Covid-19. He returned to work, but contracted Covid from a patient, and died on February 7, 2020....

It was one comment and you got 15 upvotes with no down lol. For the record I think it sucks that you lost your business, that is a tragedy, but my first thought was that it did sound pretty callous, like ignoring the hundreds of thousands of preventable deaths.

It’s not always so easy for everyone, I’ve been trying with effort for years off and on with plenty of studying and have had maybe two lucid dreams ever. I have never been able to remember many dreams, I think that is a big factor. When I did have the lucid and semi-lucid experiences it was when I had been in the habit of writing my dreams down, it increased the number of dreams I remembered massively.

For anyone curious the history really is interesting, when reading previously I learned about Pfeilstorch, storks throughout the years that had flown to Germany with African arrows stuck in them. First seen at a time when people didn’t understand bird migration, it helped to explain where all the birds would go.

Yes I know, it was a facetious comment because anyone still supporting Israel appears to be in a different reality than I, and I see no point in debating this issue.

I could still see people trying to make it work for generations for some reason, many early colonists in the West died before stable states could be founded.

I wouldn’t say they are too dumb to realize this necessarily, people are just misled by endless propaganda or don’t have the time and energy/skills to really contemplate things properly.

For a better response to writing, an exercise an instructor had my class do was to look at a list of example sentences and remove every word that wasn’t essential. I don’t think your writing is so difficult to interpret but a more plain style can be helpful for some. Most people aren’t trying to ‘add it up’ in conversation like it’s math, it should be quick and intuitive. The way we read our own writing is different than how others will emphasize or pace it which can cause misinterpretation as well.

I feel like I see a lot of arguments online that are really just people misinterpreting each other repeatedly.

Love bikeindex, I actually got my stolen bike back thanks to that site. It was literally two years later but still, the police wouldn’t have even made a report probably in the city I was at, with bike theft so ubiquitous.

Reading that I almost had a thought like it must have been a mix-up or something, but no, US police will murder people with less thought, so that type of fuckery is completely expected.
