We have this technology but still only certain perspectives are allowed to be broadcast while others are ignored. I remember meeting people from Palestine when I was young, seeing how nice and chill they were and how they wished they could go back but it was too dangerous. I think it’s rare for anyone in the US to have met anyone actually from Palestine or Israel. It’s a lot more difficult to dehumanize someone you are friends with.

Followers of Islam are Muslim, Muslims are Islamic, what is the distinction you are making? I guess you are saying to be against the religion versus the followers of the religion.

Either way though, Islam doesn’t have to be violent, people use writings from centuries ago to justify violence that would be there without their religion. Islam like Christianity and essentially all major religions preach peace and love for all people, even your enemies. They require doing good service like giving to charity to obtain salvation. Islamic groups have lived peacefully alongside other religious groups countless times.

That’s also why it’s spelled ‘antisemitic’ versus ‘anti-Semitic’, to avoid the idea that it means against Semitic people but against Jewish people specifically, replacing the earlier term “Judenhass” (Jew-hatred) in the late 1800s.

That line of arguing might have worked a few weeks ago, but we have seen numerous times people were bombed in the place they were specifically told to evacuate to. 11,000+ people killed so far, over 4,000 children. If they aren’t terrorists then they are prisoners like you said, so why are they being slaughtered by IDF bombing?

Sources are at the bottom, and there are links to information where massacres took place in the villages.

I wouldn’t doubt people driving EVs may even have less sustainable lifestyles in general because of their absolved guilt from driving the EV. Not that the average driver matters much when considering cargo and air traffic.

Complaining about the rich does not mean people that pay 35k for a car. This is exactly the type of attitude that keeps us proletarians stuck in the mud. A person that makes 100k a year and a person that makes zero a year are in the same class. There are the workers, and the rich capitalists. A doctor or lawyer who can buy a nice car is not ‘the rich’.

I understand not everyone can shift their diet, but I am curious, if you know it is unsustainable, why do you partake in the industry? Or is your food acquired more sustainably? I’m not trying to lay any sort of judgement or whatever, I am genuinely curious. A lot of people I know that eat meat that are aware of the issues with the industry will at least avoid eating meat at times.

At least they had the decency to create an artificial world for the human mind, we just let the animals suffer in misery waiting for death.

To back that up I’ve seen a few videos of IDF shooting with suppressors, on videos it can sound like a click, from the sound of this video though I’m not sure it’s even suppressed.

You can read the words of the event, but like you said watching their behavior says everything. It’s like US police claiming they feared for their life. They casually stand there, like any other day at work, and attempt to murder a young girl, and probably joked about it after.

You are clearly here solely to defend the IDF, this is a wasted effort in this space. Why do you want to put so much effort into excusing a murderous apartheid state?

I saw this post and was all “yeah, where the hell is the dish window!” But then reading your comment, all these points are pretty obvious and make total sense ahah.

Am I the only one who frequently thinks of Tracy Morgan saying “It was all worth it to see them boobies” as the host of some weird reality horror show years ago when I see the word boobies?

I don’t have a dishwasher and I don’t have time to watch this video about dishwashers right now, but I am really curious, why is the powder better than gel?

Proper pizza is greasy as fuck, if you haven’t had pizza dripping with grease I am worried for your range of pizza experiences.

tocopherol,
@tocopherol@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

That’s true, I shouldn’t imply that pizza can’t be great without being so greasy hah, it depends on the style. I usually only have just cheese and sauce, the area I’m at is known for it’s local pizza and it is usually very greasy, probably because they use quite a hefty amount of cheese, but it’s excellent.

How much more likely are you to die in a car accident in a bus or train versus a car? How many times have you taken public transit that you have such a problem with the issues you mentioned?

Something like 75 percent of all jobs in the US aren’t able to be done remotely, according to a study by researchers at UW.

tocopherol,
@tocopherol@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

People that really enjoy being unemployed might have only had jobs that didn’t feel fulfilling or were degrading, annoying or whatever. I used to feel great without work, between jobs because I worked shitty places. Now I have a job doing more useful work with a better environment and it feels nice to be there.

I agree with the depression also, it’s easy for me to procrastinate and be unproductive and live more slovenly, but when I am working more it does force me into a bit better of a routine.

Is that how it is on .world?? On my instance and the ones I browse I find it to be ten times higher quality and massively less aggressive than Reddit.

tocopherol,
@tocopherol@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

That is probably a part of why I do comment more here, I would see comment sections on reddit sometimes already with hundreds of comments and just felt like I was trying to slip into a convo that had already been well established or whatever, here I feel more likely to comment because the sections will be sparser and my comments will actually get replies from the users in the thread.

I’m a queer anarchist and I’ve posted plenty on hexbear, is it possible you only notice the takes that cause you the most instinctive reaction? There is a more diverse array of views there than people on other instances realize I think. And I’ve seen more constructive discussion there than most places on the internet, including lemmy.world and other instances.

The only ‘tankies accusing’ anything I saw in the convo were people mentioning that “marriage is a patriarchal institution”, which I don’t see how that is calling you a transphobe even if you disagree. Someone did mention trans people don’t care about marriage because they are being murdered, maybe that is what you are referring to, it really didn’t come off to me like anyone was calling you a transphobe but maybe I’m wrong. I didn’t see anyone say that you couldn’t be married, or that people can’t enjoy having a marriage, to me that is separate from critique of marriage as a patriarchal institution. But yeah, I don’t know why anyone would defend a state for anything. That’s part of why I do feel the need to engage with more ‘state-friendly’ socialists, to figure out what about it seems necessary to them, or if there is some greater flaw with my anti-state belief.
