Literally every other suggested post is about anti-trans stuff or gun rights. Is it because I commented once in a thread about how Trudeau isn't a fascist?
@rackmountrambo Facebook (and Twitter, for that matter) are formulated to push extreme-right-wing views because those get the most engagement, either from disgust or zealous approval.
People who like fascism also like clicking suspicious ads for penis enlargement pills and barely-legal teens in their area, which makes Facebook and Twitter more money. It's a consequence of advertisers gaining control of all media.
I'm seeing a lot of chat about the migration of "reddit brand" concepts like AMA and IAmA. We should probably come up with alternatives? Who's got some suggestions?
I've seen AMA threads on 4chan, I don't think it's something reddit-exclusive anymore. It's just a simple acronym for "Ask Me Anything" for online interviews.
Is there a place to file a bug report or is there a list of known issues with kbin?
For instance on my home page the "random posts" shows posts from magazines that I have blocked. To test this I blocked @random because there's always a post from there to see for me, and sure enough it still shows up.
@HomerAtTheBat search for the community in the Magazines area of kbin and it will return you results from kbin and other instances (lemmy.world, sh.itjust.works, etc.) magazines is what kbin calls communities.
I have active threads with replies here on kbin, but I'm not getting any notifications for them in the notifications tab. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Not sure what to do....
Have you checked whether you have notifications enabled in the settings? I thought I had the same problem until I checked there and noticed that they were all turned off by default.
How do I send a private message to another fediverse user from kbin? I thought maybe if I viewed their profile I'd have the option, but nothing obvious stood out.
I don't know about crucial, and I'm not sure if it exists already and I just can't find it, but I'd love to be able to preview a comment or post before submitting it.
Something similar to the multireddit function that reddit has where you can use a + sign in the URL to consolidate multiple subreddits in one page? I don't know how easy this would be but if you could do that across multiple instances you could have askkbin+asklemmy@lemmy.ml+asklemmy@lemmy.world (etc) and view all the different questions at once.
Some experts say that the mug enhances the individual flavors of the ginger beer, vodka, and lime. The copper begins to oxidize when the vodka touches the walls of the mug, they say, which slightly boosts the aroma and enhances the taste of the vodka.
Knowing me, I'd never be able to tell the difference. As long as there is a strong kick to my Mule I'm a happy Muleteer.
Can I block/unsub certain magainzes from other fedis? For example I am getting a lot of .de content, and I can't read the language, and would rather not see it.
Click on the community that you want to hide and on its sidebar you should see a 🚫 symbol, right next to the "Subscribe" button. Once you turn it to red, you will stop seeing content from that community in m/all
Is there a way to collapse a comment in a thread's comment section?
I don't know if there's something I'm missing or not, but it seems like I can't collapse a comment in the comment section of a post. This is kind of a big issue for me as I like to collapse comments I've read in order to keep track of comments, especially as I work my way down a comment tree.
As a Kbin user, whenever I click on a lemmy link it takes me to their website which would then not allow me to post or subscribe to the magazine/community/whatever. Is there a way to click on other instances' links and STAY in kbin so that I can interact with them?
@ramboteng Nope. thats the whole thing about the fediverse is to be able to communicate with anyone with whatever account. each instance has its own tools and homepage for that instance. if you go to another instance you will see there interface, you can comment, reply, create a post and that's about it. or you can just create an account on whatever instnace and have everything you want. I have one on lemmy and kbin but use kbin more because i like the interface more then lemmy!
@xc2215x the irony that some the improvements made to modernize the version of PHP it runs on were contributed by Facebook and the fact that it's Twig template files can be modified by anyone familiar with HTML and CSS. You don't need to know PHP to contribute improvements.
