I've been checking into my user page just to see if they've sent me my user data backup I requested a while ago. Other than checking for that message, I've been 100% clean and it hasn't been terribly hard. Between Kbin and Tildes, I've been getting all the commentary and aggregation that I want or need.
I deleted all my comments and content from the site prior to deleting my account. Did it work? I have no idea and I'm not really interested in checking anymore. I'm happy here on kbin.
I kind of miss my massive karma though. I was 168k mostly from comments... Oh well, it's just fake internet points. I wonder how much karma I got here... -102...
Huh.... because they are all describing a particularly shitty work environment, there is a good bet that there are other employees who feel that way. It might indeed not be the protests that kill Reddit - but Reddit itself that kills Reddit.....
Oh, look another article on how Reddit is fine. Must be fine, everyone stop protesting, it doesn't work. /s
Reddit is unprofitable with massive new expenses, no realistic plan on making a profit, apparently trying to pump for an upcoming IPO, being run by a CEO who seems fine to disrespect its lifeblood, the community, and thinks it's a good idea to emulate Elmo... what could go wrong?
Like these sorts of things with large momentum, they don't stop overnight but who can say the Reddit ship is on a good trajectory?
I'd like to point out that the upvote/downvote buttons here on kbin don't behave like you are used to on reddit they are a little different.
Up arrow = Upvote on Reddit and Favourite on Kbin - This is very different to reddit
Down Arrow = Downvote on Reddit and Reduce on Kbin
Boost (at bottom) = On kbin this is the equivalent to a reddit upvote.
It kinda confused me when I looked at my profile the other day and my reputation was -2
I'd only made one single post and it had 17 "upvotes" and 2 "downvotes" so the -2 confused me a bit. That's when I realised the uparrow was not an upvote and didn't contribute to reputation. I suspect many others don't understand this either based on the interractions with my other post.
Edit: To be clear while "fake internet points" are not overly important to me. "Reputation" or similar do give me an indication if I am contributing to a community in a positive and productive manner.
Seeing -2 made me think "Who have I pissed off?" Till I realised that "Favourites" don't contribute to reputation.
Posts and comments must be separately deleted before deleting your account. If not separately deleted, the content of the posts and comments will remain visible and disassociated from any account. If you want your posts and comments removed, follow the instructions on our help page.
Yeah, this is illegal. At least under GDPR. I'm not familiar with the California law.
Reddit has to delete ANY data associated with your account, and that would include the comments made.
