Apollo and other 3rd party apps made reddit not only usable but enjoyable. Spez and his enablers see one goal and that’s as much money as possible until the ship sinks. While I have no objections to people and companies making money. It’s HOW they go about it that really upsets me.

Actually, in order to become a moderator you must have Reddit Platinum - that's right, you have to pay them to volunteer. And you still have to follow the Mod Code of Conduct.
They are encouraging users to send feedback on updates via their official feedback site, as well as telling users to engage with their official accounts on other social media platforms.
The people in that subreddit seem pretty cringe and whiny. Some of them will quietly eat their word in the not so distant future when Lemmy and Kbin has more useful features than Reddit as Reddit keeps going down hill.
Same with me for reddit is fun. Been using the app for so long I just can't bring myself to remove it yet. I for sure will not be installing the official app.
I deleted Apollo and my Reddit journey is over, 11 years after it began. I honestly thought it would be more difficult. I think I more miss the Reddit that Baconreader was named for: the silly young Reddit full of advice animals and comments like “it’s shit like this” and ice soap and 3AM chili. That Reddit has been dead and buried for years but I soldiered on until they finally said I don’t matter with their attempts to monetize user content and eliminate third-party apps.
