BaconReader's final release announcement (www.reddit.com)
Here’s the message shown in the screenshot behind the link:...
Reddit's updated rate limits going into effect over the coming weeks, not entirely on July 1st, as was expected (www.reddit.com)
This is why apps like Boost, who never signed up for a subscription model are still functioning....
I don’t understand people who say they can’t figure out Lemmy or KBin
Does federation have a bit of a learning curve? No doubt....

Removed as moderator of /r/Celebrities after 14 years
They did not provide a reason. There was no further dialog. I just got a system message telling me I was removed....
Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it (media.kbin.social)
Please ignore this. I'm just still trying to wrap my head around this federated social media.
I can tag @Foreplay241 AND @Foreplay241 and I will be able to see their accounts through this portal/view/media?..
Reddit plagued with 1-star App Store reviews over API debacle as users search for 0-star button (9to5mac.com)
This is a great idea. Let's get as many one-star reviews up there as we can!...

I needed a world-news aggregator to help me get off that other site so I made one (fledd.it)
You can't sign up directly on https://fledd.it/m/worldnews as registration is not enabled....

Hello
Hello
For those in the know about privacy laws and the such. What is a proper response to reddit's claim that they cannot remove all the information associated to an account without first the user removing all of their posts? (kbin.social)
As the title says, Reddit replied to my GDPR request to delete all my data saying I had to do it first, which I suspect is in violation of GDPR law....

Threadiversal Travel - A guide for Lemmy, Kbin and general Reddit off-ramping (shellsharks.com)
Hey Kbin-folk, I’ve recently published my take on the “threadiverse” in the form of a quasi-guide but with some other commentary. Appreciate any feedback, good or bad!

PSA, you can add subreddits as an RSS to view without supporting Reddit
There’s still some subreddits I’d like to view as their communities haven’t swapped over yet. Like you guys, I obviously don’t want to support Reddit in any way shape or form. Surprisingly, they have not gutted RSS feeds yet. Simply add .rss at the end of the domain. Example...
Instead of deleting your Reddit account, consider using chatgpt to make comments instead
And make sure not to click on any links. If enough people use chatgpt or other LLM's to generate comments that are wordy but clearly just filler, it'll give advertisers pause and tank the value of the site as training data. Reddit's response will probably be to start banning users it thinks are doing this but normal users will...
Updated: Reddit is quietly restoring deleted AND overwritten posts and comments (mstdn.games)
Another update and possibly a solution for some case where posts were not properly deleted. Seems I jumped the gun on this and the restores haven't been intentional - at least not in this particular case....
Reddit's Contributor Program could earn you real money for your Reddit karma (www.androidauthority.com)
Reddit could be working on a Contributor program, letting top contributors earn real-world money from the gold and karma they receive.

Many are turning to Lemmy as a viable Reddit alternative. Here is how to use your existing Mastodon account with Lemmy.

Reddit Migration Directory: Subreddit Replacements (redditmigration.com)
A nice directory of subreddits and where to find them on the threadiverse!

Christian is releasing the final update for Apollo, allowing users to opt out of the refunds (mastodon.social)
Attached: 1 image I just released a really important Apollo update that adds the ability for users with remaining subscription time left to decline an automatic refund. Devs pay refunds out of pocket, and this will be about $250K, so I thank you for your consideration. ❤️ Also, this update includes an amazing "Goodbye Apollo...

There needs to be a step by step migration guide
It was and still is hard - or at least tedious - for me as a software developer to find out how to use the fediverse and lemmy. I can’t imagine how annoying it must be for a normal user. The one thing I really liked about reddit, is that you can find a well written guide for everything, often pinned at the top of a specific...
