I had cats all my life. I was born into a home with cats. There has never not been a cat living with me.
That said, I finally got dogs a few years ago and they are so much better at being your buddy than cats.
I still love cats, but dogs are so vastly different they don’t even compare. Having dogs is, I think, as close to having children as you can get without having kids. They act like toddlers, but they also learn, have unique personalities, show their affection more like a human, and are loyal as fuck.
The phrase “a dog is a man’s best friend” isn’t bullshittin’.
My younger sister is FTM. She's always been a loud asshole, and I had hoped that maybe living as a man was the cause of it. Nope, still a loud asshole. Just with different hardware. Love her to death, though.
Way better than my crackhead Trump-supporting older sister.
But ferrets and bunnies are great too but, yeah, just remember pets aren’t something you can get and then forget about. If you’re going to get one, be ready for the commitment of caring for it - even if it’s a fish or reptile. :)
Two younger sisters. The age difference is quite big, I am 8 years older than one and 13 years older than the other. That’s just a possible side-effect of being born when your parents were VERY young.
The older of the two I barely speak with, no real animosity we just simply have nothing in common.
The youngest one I speak with a little bit more often, as we do share some similar personality traits - I see a lot of myself in her from when I was younger.
The final complication is that I live on the opposite side of the country from them. So no in-person visiting.
I used to use desktop computers both at work and at home (and laptops only when away), but that killed my back – too much sitting. Since then at home I use only laptop – I can lay down with that. I do hate touchpads too, so I don't use that – just a regular mouse. Yes, one can connect a mouse to a laptop. ;-) I would prefer a full keyboard, but the one on laptop is not too bad.
Recently I have bought a powerful PC for gaming, but I only use it remotely, from my laptop (Steam streaming is great).
Cats are nice, but dogs are man’s best friend for a reason. Some cats will defend you, but most dogs are ride or die. And they can read you emotionality, just like we can read them.
Older sister, drug addict, lost her first kid and second kid is now permanently in the custody of my mother. We don’t speak, it’s hard to talk to her, she thinks shes a god and that she sees spirits and she’s just totally out to lunch.
I am very sorry to hear that. I have a friend who is an addict. We have really tried everything but it was futile - multiple withdrawals and all that. He ultimately ruined himself and his family. I wish you all the best, but please be careful.
I appreciate the kind words. I myself am a recovered addict, was very addicted to Xanax and cocaine (which my sister introduced me to at a young age). It can be frustrating at times especially for myself to see people deal with this, because I was able to stop myself and change my life.
Ultimately you can’t help those that don’t wish to help themselves, and trying to do that will accomplish nothing except for ruining your own life.
a bro and a sis, live in different countries all of us. crossed water and fire, internal conflicts from time to time, but if somebody dares to touch from the “outside” - we become one buddha palm ;)
I’m a man and the oldest of 6. My brother and I grew up being part of the same group of friends but grew apart in our early 20s (we’re now around 40), he has his own group of friends now, we rarely see each other but we’re in good terms. We have 4 sisters, 3 of them and I hang out whenever we get a chance and we’re very close, our other sister stopped hanging out with us because of some drama.
Schiptol in Amsterdam is my most hated airport I have ever visited. Last year it had huge wait times and even after "it was back to normal", it was often that the queues were ridiculously long.
So when you have to wait 4,5 hours just to get to security check, you know that you will miss your flight for sure... So I had to take a night train to Duesseldorf, wait all night in the airport, and get the first flight home. Which was delayed 2 hours....
I have a little sister (not so little any more, she’s 33, I’m 38) and I fuckin’ hate her guts. We don’t talk, I have her on block. She’s nuts and that’s about all there is to it.
