Power Metal:
Powerwolf
Gloryhammer
Alestorm
Sabaton
Windrose
Pagan music:
Emerald Rose
Tyr
And then sea shanties, folk music, Irish (rebel and otherwise), labor/protest music, and the occasional bouts of pure randomness.
Right now I cannot get enough of Miracle of Sound. Dude just checks every box there is for me. It's like if every other kind of music I listen to got gene-spliced into one guy.
In no particular order other stuff:
Blackmore's Night
Clamavi de Profundis
Omnia
Faun
The band fired Thomas Winkler (lead singer) aka Angus. No reason was given but his poor live performance after the pandemic was rumored.
Then some old chat was leaked that put to light that James (bassist aka hootsman) and Chris (song writer / former keyboardist aka Zargotrax) were racist/mysoginic trying to take advantage of their status to fuck fans.
Then some allegation of abuse against James were made.
At the end of it all Christ wrote a PR excuse letter. Gloryhammer got a new lead singer (Sozos Michael). Thomas went on his way to make a new band (Angus McSix).
So we got two album this year with gloryhammer style.
Just be careful there is two song order. The one of the track listing (the bad one) and the lore one (the good one).
For whatever reason they decided not to put the song in the lore order so the story makes no sense if you listen to the album in the track listening order.
I have the exact same list for power metal lol, only thing I’d add is twilight force.
I also like chiptune stuff, a great artist that kinda crosses over chiptune and metal is rainbowdragoneyes, he has done remixes of gloryhammer and alestorm, and has a whole EP of remixed and OC pirate metal chiptune.
What blows my mind is that it’s all large franchise. We have tons of independant selling various form of fast-food. Stuff like Sandwiches, Pizza, kebap and more. But I can’t think about only 2-3 large chain, basically we have Mc-Donalds, Quick, and that’s it ? or may-be burger kind did a comeback last years, not even sure…
I finally dropped my S10e too many times. I tried switching to my backup phone which was a Pixel 2 but it is pretty limited in terms of bands for my carrier. So I bought a Pixel 6a. I would love a Zenfone 9 but it is a tad pricey.
Would I have upgraded of my phone hadn’t died? Probably. It stopped receiving security updates. The battery was starting to not last all day. There were some things it was starting to get slow on. The camera was okay in good lighting but shit in bad lighting.
Newer phones are not actually selling all that well. Still good but there aren’t really likes it the door on release day like there used to be. People are keeping their phones for a lot longer now or opting for midrange ones.
I drop my phone so often that how easy or hard it is to replace the screen on my own and how cheap a replacement is factors onto deciding to buy a phone.
I’ve always found myself having trouble getting to work out if I didn’t have some sort of tangible goal to achieve in the process. Like with walking, I need a destination to reach, like maybe going to pick up lunch or groceries. Same for other forms of body work outs, I’ve found vr games can be handy for giving me something to get lost in while still working out, like this one squatting game called hotsquats, or some of those rhythm games
Just doing a treadmill while staring at a tv doesn’t keep my brain as engaged.
I listen to a bit of everything. Bands in my recent rotation include Low, 3rd Secret, Motörhead, Rick James, L7 and Joji, Aimee Mann, Mdou Moctar, Aphex Twin, Beastie Boys. Donny Benet
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard’s PetroDragon Apocalypse is my favorite album all year.
My favorite all time genre is industrial. So stuff like The Young Gods, Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, KMFDM, Ministry, Filter, Mulitple Man, Meat Beat Manifesto, Pig, Emptyset, Youth Code, Atari Teenage Riot / Alec Empire, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, Download…
I heard ‘Congregation’ in the show Devs (loved it), and was surprised I never listened to them before. Went back and listened to the whole catalog… several times over. It’s the best airplane music.
Your interests have a strong correlation with people on the right aside from maybe react videos.
But even if your interested were not so strongly correlated with the right, you would probably still get right wing ads or videos suggested. They garner the highest engagement because it is often outrage porn. Google gets their money that way. My subscriptions are to let wing political channels, science, and solar channels but I still get a decent amount of PragerU and Matt Walsh ads. Reporting then does not stop them from popping up either.
The big reason is updates. Phones will only get Android and security updates for so long. After that point, you buy a new phone or run the risk of being exposed.
Yeah I should bite the bullet and get a Pixel, they normally get the longest updates support or am I wrong? This habit of going for a budget phone and it becoming unusable/unsafe after 3 years is just a hidden cost I’m in denial over 😞
The Pixels get 3 years of major version upgrades and 5 years of security updates from Google. After that point if the battery is still working well enough for you, you could always try installing something like Graphene OS on it.
It takes a while. A long while. But once you develop a habit, a day will feel empty without your routine exercise, and doing it will feel real good.
The important thing is to find what works for you and do that. I bounced off many gym programs and could not keep up with them. Then I hurt my leg and decided to talk to a physical therapist. He developed a program for me that’s easy to stick to, yet challenging enough.
Not everyone’s into jogging and lifting. Look and ask around. Good luck!
Your concerns are valid, you absolutely will see your family less. If you’re not okay with that, that’s okay! Also keep in mind that the world is not on a night shift. It’s significantly harder to sleep normal hours when everything is going on the regular day schedule. That might not matter where you are but where I live that means more noise, more sirens, more people coming and going and keeping me awake. I’m a naturally light sleeper so when I had to work nights I had to go an extra mile or two. Blackout curtains are essential, and you may want to shove a towel under the door if the sun angle is unfavorable and shines it there. I also needed a facemask and ear plugs until I discovered I preferred a nice white noise maker. I still sleep with a white noise machine to this day, love it.
There are good things to night shift too. Less bullshit all around generally. Depending on what you’re doing that can be good or bad. It can be mind numbingly boring if you don’t have a set amount of work to do.
