Keep in mind that a lot of your local marketplace sellers just order rebadged stuff from alibaba. I’ve found literally the same electronics i’ve bought locally on aliexpress for like half the price.
I completely switched to lemmy for my random scrolling. But the main community for a game is still there so sometimes I keep lurking that subreddit only (exclusively from pc)
I have a plan for what I consider to be my happy place: retirement. Whenever I feel down I look at my plan and consider what small step I could take to get even closer. It helps me step back from the immediate feelings and focus on the longer term goal. No one is going to help me reach my goals. Only I can do that. Accepting this and seeing progress is so satisfyingly empowering.
Isn't Grosse Pointe Blank from around '98 or '99?
That's when VHS was on its' very last legs. I think my first DVD player was from around 2001, by that time the graph line of DVD rising and VHS falling had already intersected, and this was in Mexico, I'm not sure when other parts of the world made the transition, say in the US, Europe or Japan it happened earlier.
Hackers is a great choice, it’s so cheesy but it just draws you in and completely suspends your beliefs. Every character is likeable and the lines are so well delivered, man now I got to rewatch it. Terminator 2, hackers, and Pokemon 1st gen probably made more SDEs than any stem outreach program.
Arma 3 and that is mostly “Escape From” as it’s an easy drop in game mode. Although I think I still have way more hours in Europa Universalis 4 but that isn’t counted for… reasons.
Also I swear my hours used to be way bigger years ago. I am not crazy right? Like only 170+ hours in TF2 I have definitely played that way more.
I open the app out of muscle memory a few times a day, infinity still works somehow, but most of my subs have been closed/dead now anyway so not really.
Some of the churches where I live have a big banner outside that says, “Try praying”. It strikes me as comically desperate. Imagine a car dealership with a “Try driving” banner, a restaurant with “Try eating”.
Meditation is better advice. By which I mean doing the exercises to approach grounding oneself in the present, sensing and feeling things from that perspective, instead of the YESTERDAY and TOMORROW clashing storms inside our minds.
But one can't just start meditating one day - "from zero to sixty", so to speak - and expect immediate results. It's a discipline, like brushing your teeth every day.
