Colossal Cave on the PDP-11. Yes, I’m old.
perviouslyiner, ITT: The youngest people on Lemmy got their games by typing in source code from a magazine
FiftyShadesOfMyCow, (edited ) GTA San Andreas on the PS2! (Barely remember it though because I was a smol wee little boy)
Other than that, Skyrim! This freakin game introduced me to the wonderful world of Bethesda Games! ❤️
Edit: Boy, there are many people here with decades of experience. I’m just 21, guys, don’t make me feel left out 🥲
crossfadedragon, (edited ) deleted. double post.
ok apparently not double post.
i had gta3 up to san andreas on ps2 and pc. played a multiplayer mod for san an, glitchy but fun.
elder scrolls is fun. need to get back to daggerfall unity and finish it.
you dont have to feel left out. grab something like retroarch and dive in.
FiftyShadesOfMyCow, Got it! Thanks!
orcrist, I don't know the game, but definitely an Atari.
zkfcfbzr, Can’t quite remember if it was Donkey Kong Country on SNES or Pokémon Blue on Game Boy Pocket, but one of those.
LuckyLu, The system was a PS2. I think the first games I played personally would have been Ratchet and Clank or some licensed Disney shit like Peter Pan or Cars.
Hillock, I am not sure which I played first but the most memorable ones are Bubble Bobble for the C64 or Goriallas on a really old DOS PC. Putting in really high velocity numbers to make the exploding banana fly through the building rather than trying to figure out an arch was my favorite strategy.
in2thesame, Amiga 1200. Great times 😉

My earliest memory is playing either Chase HQ or Kinnikuman Muscle Tag on the Famicom.
Azeon, Gameboy Pocket with Pokemon Blue. I may have played Space Cadet on a PC before I got my Gameboy, not sure.
slazer2au, Super Mario World 3 for the NES.

what a masterpiece! still so charming and fun and challenging today! and OH the music (with an extra sound-chip in the cartridge to add more voices!!) <3
kamiheku, Mine was an IBM 286 system. Played Commander Keen, Jill of the Jungle, Duke Nukem (1)… It was magical.
thisowlis, Super Mario Land on the original Gameboy.
I invested so much time in this game as a kid and when i replayed it some years ago i was shocked at how short it actually is…
crossfadedragon, i was put off by it myself because of the graphic style. i beat it but liked mario land 2, and wario land more.
xkforce, The first computer game I played was Scarab of Ra on a macintosh 512k. The first console game I played was Super Mario Bros 3 on NES.
youngalfred, The earliest game I remember is Dangerous Dave that I think was on a 386.
Either that or Gorillas, a DOS game on a similar system. Still remember having to park the heads!
