Be honest, do you still use reddit?

I used to check the front page at least once every day, and occassionally check specific subreddits. Now I don’t look at reddit unless theres some drama, like mods getting purged, then I’d go there and enjoy the drama. Occasionally there will be questions that only reddit has the answer to so I have to reluctantly use it. I got my uBlock Origin ready to kill all the ads. That shitty website will not get a cent out of me.

What about you? Do you still use reddit?

gunnm,

Still active on some niche communities that they don’t want to leave Reddit and only using it on desktop.

Only when I’m googling something that points to reddit. But even then not really as I’m using an extension that redirects all reddit links to their webarchive version.

i just check it twice a week

eldrichhydralisk,

Nope. I quit cold turkey on June 30 and haven’t been back. Well, not on purpose, at least. Sometimes a Google result sends me to Reddit, but when it loads I just close it and move to the next result. Lemmy works fine for everything I used Reddit for.

No. I only really use my phone for everything. It’s impossible to see the old website on mobile and the regular website is hot garbage, and somehow their app is even worse. There is no way for me to access Reddit and have a pleasant experience anymore.

Reddit basically forced me to go to Lemmy. I was mad at first, but now 3 weeks into it (1 week casual before the Baconreader died and then 2 weeks of redditesque addiction) I really don’t mind. There are some subs I really miss, but hopefully someone makes communities for them soon. (Malicious compliance and HobbyDrama are what immediately pop into my head)

Boiglenoight,

I don’t. I’ll find myself there occasionally because friends still do. I silently judge them as enablers of corporate scummery. I had been talking up Lemmy.world to the point of being insufferable and have stfu since it was hacked.

viridian,

Yeah unfortunately. There are some subs that haven’t migrated over yet and some subs that are active that have really useful info for me (school, language learning, etc.)

Once or twice a week I check my local subreddit and a couple of best of subs.

wildcardology,

My reddit usage is 99% on Boost for reddit and 1% on web. Since Boost doesn’t work right anymore. I don’t use it 99% anymore.

Paws,

Exactly the same here. I’m eagerly awaiting the Boost for Lemmy app!

EtnaAtsume,

My usage pattern too. I did nip on today to post/rant on some calorie counting subs just because I valued a faster answer over a quality one.

@ShoePaste@lemmy.ml avatar

yes, but only for specific content. my city and state have a very active subs that just hasn’t really taken off on Lemmy yet. there’s a lot of news from both that i can’t get anywhere else. similarly i’m pretty active on r/dmacademy and there just isn’t a community on lemmy that i’ve found that is similar yet. i think when those communities take off here i’ll finally cut the cord on reddit.

ManosTheHandsOfFate,
@ManosTheHandsOfFate@lemmy.world avatar

Ditto. These smaller locality subs are unlikely to take off on lemmy IMO. I think reddit would have to shut down before people would look for an alternative.

Yeah, probably right unfortunately

Caboose20,

I lurk with an ad blocker. I do still have an account and am logged in so I can vote and save some posts.

@Caligvla@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Not unless a search result sends me there. Although I’ll admit there’s a couple hobby related subs I’ll check once a week for news, but that’s about it, dropped it completely otherwise.

King,

Lemmy still has some issues that need to be addressed for it to fully replace Reddit for my needs

Be honest, do you still use reddit?

PochoHipster,

Nah. This is my shitpost home now.

SapienSRC,
@SapienSRC@lemmy.world avatar

No, and honestly don’t really miss it. Lemmy is fine for what I need it for. Sometimes if I search for an answer I’ll get a result that happens to be on Reddit so if that counts then so be it.
