I lived in wv, you find chunks of it out in the ground sometimes. I was a curious kid and tried to get some to light. It was real low quality though so it burnt like shit
I’m enough of a lyrics person that the language barrier is a pretty big issue when it comes to music but HATRIÐ MUN SIGRA and I si demà no tornara are both undeniable bangers
I haven’t starved yet. I know from experience that if I get calorically restricted for too long, I will do anything to fill my stomach. So fortunately, it hasn’t got to the point where my morality starts to degrade yet.
For the past month I’m paying around 30% more than I was in July 2022, and 10% more than I was in April 2022. (I just picked two random months from where I wasn’t yet either too lazy or busy to track everything I bought on the computer. Really need to catch up on that tbh because I haven’t updated the file for more than a year.)
The amount of stupid bullshit such as energy drinks I buy varies so to get any actually usable stats I’d have to average it over a longer time frame but it seems fine to me.
Oo, I got a bonus word! I spent way too much time trying to parse synecdoche from metonym.
Apparently, synecdoche is something associated with, and metonym is a whole or a part of of. So “red hats” and “trust funds” referring to people are synecdoche and my examples were all metonyms.
A book you’d probably enjoy is “Elements of Eloquence”, by Mark Forsythe. It covers this kind of stuff in a fun, accessible format. Like how John F Kennedy’s “Let us never negotiate out of fear, but let us never fear to negotiate” is an example of chiasmus, the symmetrical repetition of structure or wording; or how the Fight Club rules thing is an example of epizeuxis.
The audiobook version is pretty fun to listen to, that’s how I first encountered the book - a friend who needs something to listen to as they sleep put it on and I enjoyed it.
Pretty partial to Japanese pop myself. I’m learning Japanese partially so i can understand the songs. Yoasobi’s songs are a good general recommendation, I would recommend Yoru ni Kakeru, Gunjou, and Seventeen.
