Joker, in Best way to go about getting CompTIA certifications?

Neither one of those will help you as a developer. If anything, I would look at that combo and be skeptical. Project+ would be a better choice. A good GitHub profile would be even better. But I don’t think you will have much trouble as a Java developer. There are still a lot of jobs out there.

zero_spelled_with_an_ecks, in What hobbies help you minimize or avoid navigating commercialism?

Some martial arts. A gi and a fee to keep the lights on. Avoid the places that guarantee black belts in a year or sell gear.

Lots of maker type hobbies do require an initial (and often ongoing) material purchase. Some are better than others at using what is at hand though.

Sewing/alterations is both a useful skill to have and allows you to repurpose old fabrics.

Art supplies can be quite expensive, but drawing materials are fairly ubiquitous. You likely have something within reach that you can practice with.

Man down alarm for the freezer at the distribution centre I work at. If that goes off in the office is ear splitting.

Valmond, in What is the most terryifying siren noise?

Where I live there are tries every this date, so when it really comes to your mind that its sounding awfully strong and long time than usually… It sure kicks you into another mood.

A bunch of people screaming in terror would probably be pretty terrifying: What’s that? The gates of hell opening up to consume us all? No! It’s just an emergency vehicle.

BlackSkinnedJew, in What current U.S presidential candidates are most in favor of legalizing pot?

A vote for any US candidate it’s a vote for the NWO, less words: neither… anyway it will be legalized if it make big amounts of money.

Valmond, in Unix and Linux System Administration Handbook?

Thanks, but yeah, I’m more into books. Like for the back bone of things, for the daily error I’ll be on the web for sure.

MedicPigBabySaver, in What current U.S presidential candidates are most in favor of legalizing pot?

Vote Biden. Only legit option to block out the Cheeto chimp.

morphballganon, in What current U.S presidential candidates are most in favor of legalizing pot?

Perhaps pot is the only issue you care about now, but a vote for anyone except Biden is functionally a vote for Trump, who will give you much bigger issues to worry about. So, the smart thing to do here is to vote Biden.

A vote for Stein or West is functionally equivalent to driving to the ballot box just to rip up your ballot and drive home.

1984, in Is lemmy.ml down?
@1984@lemmy.today avatar

It’s on Lemmy 0.19 now so getting closer to new version for everyone. :)

Contramuffin, in What current U.S presidential candidates are most in favor of legalizing pot?

Neither side, really, but you can generally be certain that the Republican party is the one most against legalizing marijuana.
