Not to come to their defense, I don’t like most of what they do, but when you have multiple billion users, every “small change” you make or feature you add is a significant investment in planning, building, and testing.
I feel sorting top 6 hours would make more sense for me if I were sorting posts/coments within a community itself, because I would want the newest posts, but at that point I just defualt to new anyways.
But when searching for communities, personally i’m not for sorting it by hours or days because I want to make sure a community has an ok track record of being active, but at the same time i’m not wanting to keep a monopoly so that’s why I don’t go out of my way to sort the communities by top year or something like that because then we’d have another Google. I strive to strike a balence.
I actively had to set my region and langzage to english so YT doesnt auto translate video titles into my native language…
It can’t be that hard to implement a switch to opt-out of it, can it?
My main job is pretty commonplace but I moonlight as a fire performer. I got into it kinda by chance but it has consumed my life. I actually have to carry insurance and do have certifications to do fire. In fact, I’m licensed to write letters of recommendation for new performers. I also have to pull permits for it in my city.
I also do burlesque and sideshow, but there isn’t really a formal process other than deciding you want to try hammering a 5" nail into your head. Sideshow is best described as putting things where they DON’T belong. Being a social outcast and knowing people helps.
Would I do it again? Yes, it’s a fulfilling art form. But unfortunately the industry is superficial garbage, and the conditions of your birth will greatly affect the ratio between effort put in and success.
It’s becoming more common, but I work in the cannabis industry. People don’t tend to know much about exactly what I do and how weed sales works. The education and certification side of this is actually super unique. You do have to get a basic agent ID, but it’s really more of a background check than anything. But, because the rec market is so very new here, you are basically required to have broken the law extensively to have the knowledge and experience needed to sell weed. Everyone I work with has a criminal past, even if they never got busted. I talked about buying psychedelics on the darkweb in my interview, and my HR person knew exactly what the fuck I was talking about. It’s just one of the many wonderful things about working in cannabis <3
It was not impossible to implement, no. We can only guess as to why it wasn’t implemented, but if I had to guess, I’d say it’s simply not been prioritized.
Just block JS by default using uBlock origin. Install mpv with youtube-dl and feed YouTube URLs into mpv. No need for a separate extension to avoid the morons commenting on YouTube.
I’m a Dev(Sec)Ops Engineer, so I’m basically the guy who makes all the funky stuff in the background so developers can write their apps/websites and automatically roll them out on different environments and versions, also im more or less adding a bunch of tools for this and different platforms so the devs can do that autonomously without me being there 24/7
Nobody in management wants to admit the truth: the corporation exists to further enrich its already wealthy owners. That sort of mission statement, however accurate, isn't going to inspire anybody to buy into the corporate culture, let alone put in unpaid overtime by working more than 40 hours a week on a salary.
I know why my parents had me cut. It was because my father had been cut, and that's just what was done at the time. It's not a good enough reason for me, and if I had had sons I would not have allowed them to be cut in turn. My children are not my property.
Take whatever job will pay the most while demanding the least amount of time spent on the job. It doesn't matter of a job pays a quarter million and lets you work on trendy tech if you're on the job 80 hours a week; that's just you getting fucked in the ass. If you're working 40 hours a week or less (ideally much less) you can do passion projects on your own time.
Don't look for friendship, community, or emotional fulfillment on the job. If you find it anyway, it's a trap. Do the job, get paid, and GTFO. Be a mercenary, not a company man.
