Here in New Zealand you can buy it at the Hardware store in 20KG bags. Older houses have pot belly “stoves” for heat, which are smaller then log burners usually, and coal is the best fuel for them.
Omg Dakhabrakha’s baby is one of the most powerful songs I’ve ever heard. The lyrics are in Ukranian but can be vaguely understood from Russian and damn they hurt. You might’ve already seen but here is the English translation
i shop bulk as much as i can, eat oatmeal for breakfast daily, and after i had my gall bladder removed i got in the habit of eating 2-3oz portions of animal protein no more than 5 times a week. i spend a bunch of time in the kitchen every week but it definitely softens the blow. it also helps that i have a couple of cheap staple meals i can make for less than $5 per serving.
i also shop around for value. i live near 4 different grocery stores so i dont spend a lot of time doing it, but i do make a run to grocery outlet every month in order to get discounts on bigger items but it can be hit or miss.
I’d lean towards the Software Development track, partly because that’s my background, and partially because it sounds like it would offer a better foundation in development fundamentals. I suspect AI is going to change significantly over the next couple of decades, so I suspect it would be less future proof.
Am I crazy for doing this later in life?
No. The best time to plant a tree is fifty years ago, the second best time is now.
When you get into development shops, you should discover that you’re promoted based on merit (if not, run). If that’s the case, use your maturity, and you’ll hopefully be able to progress quickly.
By using your maturity, I mean: have empathy for the user, focus on the most important parts of your project first, and speak up when you encounter problems. When I was a fresh dev, I focused on what was technically feasible, did the easy parts first, and tried to fight through problems on my own.
No need, I’ve been hearing that it’s good when they get all the money shoved at them BECAUSE, and hear me out now, they may or may not choose to maybe trickle some of the wealth they don’t obsessively hoard or burn on pleasure trips into space back onto the population.
They’re bound to start doing that aaaaaany decade now…
Lately I’ve been obsessed with Tasting History with Max Miller. He recreates historic dishes while exploring the history surrounding it. Very bingeable
The only other reliable video host I know about is Streamable, but I’ve never looked at their privacy policy so it may be just another YouTube. Might be worth a look though?
