You should digitalise those and share them (I mean it would be very cool if you did!), I’m sure lots of people would like it, they just haven’t got the time/energy/possibility to find those kind of things.
MC Rell is rapper from the late 80s that dropped a pretty good album, very few people have heard of him.
The Lootpack is a 90s hip hop group from LA that was good but for some reason it never caught on, I don’t know anyone else who’s heard their album.
The older films I like aren’t really that obscure, I just don’t know any film nerds in real life. I’m a big fan of the Preston Sturges comedy films, film nerds know them but no one I know in real life watches old movies.
Have Gun, Will Travel is one of my favorite western TV shows. It’s kind of stuck around but, not like I Love Lucy or The Honeymooners did.
There was a series of b movies about a detective called The Falcon. They were kind of a mix of The Thin Man films and the Sam Spade films.
They were lots of fun to watch but I don’t know anyone else who’s seen them.
This is copied from my reply to another person here.
Most of the music is on Soulseek.

Ah, I love Preston Sturges. I guess I'm lucky to know a few film and TV nerds in real life. ETA: The Lady Eve is one of my favorite movies. (When I'm asked what my favorite movies are, I say that and I Know Where I'm Going by Powell and Pressburger.)
Please check it out. I've seen it many times over the years, eventually owning a couple of copies. It's magical. P&P made some really great films - Black Narcissus and The Red Shoes really stand out.
Fun fact: acrobatics are made with lower hydration dough.
If you want dough with crispy outside and soft inside you’re looking for a 65-70% hydration. Acrobatics with this will rip it apart. To open a higher hydration dough you use this technique: youtu.be/xzbW8CZx538
I live in the US. Sex, even just plain boring vanilla sex, is such a taboo topic. Everyone’s uncomfortable about it, and that sucks. I think it’s interesting, and fun, and there’s so many things to talk about from actual activities to social constructs and more.
Whenever it comes up, I nerd out the same way I would when talking about a game I am currently obsessing over.
You say a lot of things, but do you have evidence of them? Or is it just related to them doing what's actually required to avoid giving the people DDoSing them another means of taking them down, fake DMCAs based on communities hosted in other instances that promote breaking the law?
And before anyone gets any idea, if they tried doing the same because they are mad, expect for it to backfire. Spectacularly. As in you might want to think twice before moving directly into the servers hosting those communities. And that's not a threat, that's because anyone with a brain can read, specially those in the legal world who have jobs because there is literally a separate aspect of legal proceedings involved in collecting evidence called discovery where lots of people with brains are able to read and understand the same conversations you and me are able to understand for instances that might indicate aiding, abetting, and collusion, being able to discern them from the false accusations thereof as well.
Well, considering they just decided to ban my account and delete all of my content on their server without even a warning for simply criticizing their terms of conduct, I guess you were right and I was an idiot for defending them.
I was already considering switching over to kbin fully just because they're set up to interact with both Lemmy instances and Mastodon. Unfortunately the Mastodon side still feels a bit janky, but I'm hoping that'll change as time goes on.
Definitely not going to stay with an instance that pre-emptively bends over for corporate interests. That's one of the biggest reasons why I'm shifting away from Reddit in the first place.
Women are not some single homogenous group. Every woman is a unique person, just like men are.
Actually I think you’ll find that all women everywhere can be extrapolated from 5 shit takes on Twitter, one of which was a joke and one of which was a far-right LARPer /s
There are books about how to manipulate women. I read one of those and felt sick. No normal man can write stuff like that, publish it, and feel good about himself. Jesus.
Normal men don't read it either. We're potentially raising more broken young men than we've seen in the last hundred years. And when the aftershocks arrive, people will act surprised like they always do.
MLK was killed by the US Government/with Government warning and approval not because of his policies on race, but because his message was getting (though somewhat always had been) socialist/anti-capitalist, and between the historic fear of slave revolts, the new fear of communist revolutions, and the monied business interests not wanting to cede any power they ended MLK to prevent potential calls for a social revolution.
Dehumanisation. I feel as though people are increasingly becoming ok with other people being punished for their involvement in something that is genuinely wrong/evil/bad. But the people experiencing the steepest punishments are almost never the people with significant culpability for the wrong/evil/bad decisions.
"Just following orders" might not be a great excuse, but punishing pawns for a king's choices isn't an effective deterrent or remedy either.
