Rolder, in Lemmy, is there a treasured piece of content that you stop yourself from going back to "too often" so as to not dilute it?

Few dirty doujins that always get me going, but I try not to use them too often lest they lose their charm

roeeeeeeeee,

examples?

Rolder,

Personal fave is 65915

Psythik, (edited ) in Lemmy, is there a treasured piece of content that you stop yourself from going back to "too often" so as to not dilute it?

The Orville, Fresh Prince, and Firefly.

Been watching these three shows for many years; still haven’t seen every episode of any of them. One episode every few months/years is enough for me.

I fear for the day that I finally finish one of them.

Witchfire, in Other than Lemmy, what are you doing tonight?
@Witchfire@lemmy.world avatar

I spent the entire evening playing virtual D&D while sewing details onto a corset and making a bloody necklace (it’s for a stage act). Quite happy with the result.

idunnololz, in Other than Lemmy, what are you doing tonight?
@idunnololz@lemmy.world avatar

Got hotpot with like 50 of my coworkers. Had a blast. Some table ordered too much food and it was hilarious for everyone else as we watched them struggle to finish it all. We had to rotate people into their table to help eat the food.

WeLoveCastingSpellz, in discord vs guilded vs revolt vs element/matrix what is your favorite?

I like matrix nore vut all öy friends use discord

WEAPONX, in Lemmy, is there a treasured piece of content that you stop yourself from going back to "too often" so as to not dilute it?

Final Fantasy VIII. I want to play it all the time and i wish i could erase the plot from my memory and play it again for the first time.

match,
@match@pawb.social avatar

whoa

can you explain the plot of viii for me

RvTV95XBeo,

Moody teen saves the world with his oversized sword-gun.

Full disclosure, this one is big on the nostalgia for me as well.

cloudless,
@cloudless@feddit.uk avatar

I remember the annoying protagonist, the stupid magic draw system, the crippling final dungeon. I don’t remember the plot.

WEAPONX,

I’m not saying it’s a masterpiece. It carries nostalgic and sentimental value for me. I like it.

spacemanspiffy,

Easily one of my favorites too. It was my first FF so I don’t see a lot of the flaws others claim to.

tcrash, in What's something you're proud of doing?

Brushing my teeth. I’ve been through progressive hard depression from an early age. Yeah. It’s not much

Croquette,

Any self improvement, as small as it may seam, creates a momentum to change other things.

Celebrate that change and use it to make other positive changes.

MarauderIIC,

I’m trying to build a flossing habit, myself

canitendtherabbits,

I’m right here with ya. Even bought some of those fancy plastic flosser things.

Small improvements are still improvements, my friend - good on ya!

umulu,
@umulu@lemmy.world avatar

You’re wrong friend.

Even for people that are not depressed, brushing their teeth is almost a chore.

You brushing your teeth, not only shows great resilience, but also improvement

slampisko, in Other than Lemmy, what are you doing tonight?

I’m helping dev a niche online game, so I’ve been spending my free nights coding in Python

felixwhynot, in Other than Lemmy, what are you doing tonight?
@felixwhynot@lemmy.world avatar

Worked on some music (synthesizer programming) got dinner with bae, enjoyed some recreational drugs in lieu of alcohol (dry January, lol) and cuddling with the cat!

Thorny_Insight, in How do Hue Bulbs do millions of different colors, what sorcery is this?

Another thing that’s curious about these lights which also applies to your computer/smartphone display aswell is the fact that it’s able to produce yellow color despite only having red, green and blue leds in it. If you open up a yellow picture on your monitor and look closely with a magnifying glass there’s no yellow there.

cheese_greater,

Thats another thing I don’t get. Itf you look at your tv screen real close its all red/green/blue. Every pixel/cell, how does it appear different from far away

ClassyHatter,
@ClassyHatter@sopuli.xyz avatar

Human eyes have three kinds of cells (photoreceptors) for color detection. They each react to either red, green or blue light. If more than one of those cells are activated, your brain interprets the light based on what cells activated, and how strongly they activated. If red and green cells activates, the light is seen as yellow. The light is seen as white if all of them activates fully.

This also means that light bulbs can produce white light by simply producing three wavelengths (colors) of light. The problem with that kind of “fake” white is that colors will look wrong under such light due to the way how objects reflects light. This is very common with low quality LED lights, and even the best smart lights aren’t very good at it. When buying LED lights, you might want to look at the CRI (Color Rendering Index) value and make sure it’s above 90, or as high as possible.

Mr_Blott, in What are some problems that countries outside the U.S. are dealing with?

Guy in your thumbnail has got one eye going to the shop and the other coming back with a loaf

MadBob,

As we used to say in Liverpool, one eye in Crocky and one eye in Tocky.

Mr_Blott,

I would’ve thought you’d say one eye at Gregg’s and one eye in the dole 😂

Lafari, in Why do people on YouTube say "Lol they liked their own comment"? How do they know, and also I thought YouTube discredited self-likes?

Likes are anonymous on YouTube.

Narc082,

Are we doing this “you forgot to switch accounts” thing?

itsathursday,

lol they commented on their own thread

Narc082, (edited )
itsathursday,

Das da joke re: op question

LemmyKnowsBest, (edited )

no, He’s merely expounding on his original question, he knows that likes are invisible on YouTube, so why do people call out others for liking their own comments /videos when there’s no way for anyone to know who clicked “like”

Thorny_Insight, (edited ) in What are some problems that countries outside the U.S. are dealing with?

Russia is sending migrants to Finland and after we closed the eastern border they started walking thru the forest and showing up on the yards of people living close to the border. These people are literally hiking thru deep snow in the freezing winter wearing sneakers.

Fades,

Non-Russian migrants?

Thorny_Insight, (edited )

Yeah mostly from middle east I believe. Finland started putting up hundreds of kilometers of border fence about a year ago as this was expected to happen. They’re trying to destabilize our political system this way. Despite what many articles say this is not about trying to stop an invasion. It’s about migrants that Russia is using as political leverage.

Finland to close entire Russian border after migrant surge

Yankee_Self_Loader,

Say that again!

scottmeme,

BACK IN THE 90S I WAS IN A VERY FAMOUS TV SHOW

hakunawazo, (edited ) in What software do you wish that existed?

There was this small project long ago where you could organize all your desktop data in mindmap like 3d galaxies. It was really beautiful, but I can’t remember it’s name, nor have I found something similar again for modern operating systems.
