OhFudgeBars, in Why don't public restroom stalls have OPEN/OCCUPIED indicators like porta potties do?

How hard is it to press on the stall door and if it doesn’t open, just move on to the next?

surewhynotlem, in How to combine sports and study?

Take up fencing and carry a knife instead.

Most martial arts that you would practice are very careful about not giving you injuries. You’re practicing, not competing. Find a place to study, and ask the point blank how many injuries they get per month. The answer should be basically zero.

Type561183,

It’s just that about 4 years ago I was involved in martial arts and I was hit in the head by strong blows at least twice. But there seemed to be no injuries. Anyway, it can cause injury.

LegionEris, in Anyone on here know where all the conspiracy people hang out?

Not of the aliens gave Martha Washington the technology to become impregnated by the Bigfoot variety, but there are always plenty of conspiracies on Hexbear. It’s wild how deep into history revision and denial some people will go to justify believing fairly reasonable things.

Vox, in What MMOs are you all playing?

I’ve been playing Final Fantasy 14 for about 3 years now and got my partner into it a year ago, we both highly recommend it even if it’s just to experience the main story.

The community tends to be pretty active, there’s a lot of roleplay as well as end-game raiders. The lore is the biggest reason to play imo, it’s a hundreds of hours long adventure that has made me laugh, cry, and feel genuine empathy for some of the characters I’ve met. PvP exists but it’s not super competitive. PvE on the other hand is split into dungeons, trials, and raids. Dungeons are classic MMO dungeons with trash mobs and a couple bosses, trials are just a big boss, and raid tiers are 4 separate boss fights with the last one having a 2nd phase. There’s also different difficulties of content, but you do the normal version first during the main story or side quests.

Landmammals, in What MMOs are you all playing?

City of Heroes

AceFuzzLord, in What MMOs are you all playing?

Anymore, occasionally, I’ll hop back into Wakfu or I’ll play Dofus Touch on my phone. Otherwise I don’t play MMOs at all.

FerolisD, in Circumcised men, how do you feel about your parents having mutilated your penis without your consent?
@FerolisD@lemmy.world avatar

My penis is not mutilated, thank you very much.

I started playing DC Universe Online again for the first time in a decade+ a few weeks ago. Forgot how much fun creating a super hero is. I’m on PC, which I guess has crossplay with playstation?

Player population is hit and miss. The cities are a tad empty, though there’s almost always other people doing the same mission as you. But if you go to a major hub, like GCPD or Watchtower central hub, tons of players, especially on like a Saturday night. Game’s definitely not dead, and chat is very active.

Character customization via the styles tab is endless, and by default it has transmog so your gear doesn’t have to affect your appearance if you don’t want.

I hear the f2p model gets predatory near end game but i’m not there yet so I can’t confirm. Either way, having fun so far.

kemsat, in What's an alternative to Spotify that doesn't play you the same fucking songs over and over?

YouTube Music is what I use. You can start a radio from a song, and it’ll play new music. You can also change the Up Next to different styles if you want familiar or new music. https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/b9a15fea-e775-4544-b699-15b6d9f78817.jpeg

XYZinferno,

I should also add that with YouTube Revanced you can make the app ad free, which is the primary reason I use it over other music streaming

noyou,

Man I didn’t even know those buttons existed. I thought I always had to go through the music tuner to land in a “discover” playlist tuned to certain artists. This is so much easier, thanks!!

ArdMacha,

Also YouTube music will play random tracks uploaded to YouTube that are not licensed on other streaming services

I’m a fan of Elijah Craig, personally. I’m not a drinker, but that’s my go-to when I decide I want a drink

Apicnic,

To me it’s the best value for price bourbon I’ve found, and it’s very good. I haven’t tried very many of their higher end or limited offerings though.

I got one of their limited runs from a buddy about two years ago. I can’t really say it was better than the standard. A little “hotter”, even, swish which isn’t something I tend to prefer.

Thanks to everyone who suggested something. I’ve settled on a bottle of Angel’s Envy.

Bob_Robertson_IX,

This was going to be my suggestion, it’s such a delicious bourbon.

magnusrufus,

I’m late to the game but I just wanted to say that that is a solid choice.

drphungky, (edited ) in Americans - I Need Help Choosing A Bourbon

Crazy that no one has recommended Costco’s in-house Bourbon. It’s very hard to get unless you know when it’s in stock, because it sells out in like a week, but at some places (DC for example) you don’t even need a membership to buy liquor. It’s a REALLY good Bourbon for the price. It’s a little stronger and sweeter than many bourbons in my estimation, without much bite.

My buddy is a huge Bourbon snob, we did the trail for his bachelor party, and he had a few bourbon bars set up at his wedding. It was one of the five he chose to have at his wedding, and the decision was not made on cost. He’s the one that introduced me to it, and it’s basically all I buy now, unless I’m getting something cheap for bourbon and gingers or some other mixed drink.

LilB0kChoy, in Americans - I Need Help Choosing A Bourbon

Back when I was a drinker (7 years sober now) my drink of choice was whiskey in general, bourbon in particular.

That said, the best whiskey I ever had was a bottle of Yamazaki 12 year single malt. I got it as a gift when they just entered the US market and picked up a second bottle for ~$45 at the time. Highly recommended to any whiskey drinker.

doc,

Those bottles now run north of $150, so you're better off being sober in more ways than one!

LilB0kChoy,

For sure! Though at the end of my drinking it was Ten High Kentucky as that’s all I could afford with the amount I was drinking.

Navigate, in What's an alternative to Spotify that doesn't play you the same fucking songs over and over?

I have been using https://spotifyshuffler.com/. This allows you to create a shuffled version of your playlist, then you play through that version once with Spotify’s shuffling disabled.

PresidentCamacho,

Is the idea that it’ll break Spotify preference to play only certain stuff?

Navigate,

The idea is that you don’t rely on Spotify shuffle at all. A separate app reads your playlist, shuffles it once, and puts that shuffled version into your library. Now you can play this new version with the in-Spotify shuffle disabled. Once you’ve heard all the songs, just rinse and repeat.

zerbey, in Americans - I Need Help Choosing A Bourbon

It’s a cheap option and often overlooked, but my go to has been Jim Beam Devil’s Cut for years now.
