When I asked my parents they said "We did it in case you wanted to marry a Jewish girl." It didn't make any sense at that time either, but since I don't have any problems with it and have never known my penis any other way, I don't really mind.
Lots of good suggestions so far, but not seen The Great mentioned. Filthy AF and one of the few shows I laugh out loud to (well, more like cackle loudly). I’ll also second the suggestion for Better Off Ted.
Season one of The Great was, well, great. It was funny and interesting. But then it got dark AF. No spoilers, but it made me ugly cry at one point, then it just got depressing and boring.
First job? Go with the financial firm, get 1-2 years of experience then leave. If you already had experience, I would say neither job is good. But getting your foot in the door is difficult. Most of your technical skills you pick up might not be transferable since it’s old tech like you mentioned but you should still get very valuable experience that you don’t have from school like working with version control strategies, release cycles, test/staging/production builds, writing tickets, prioritization, etc.
Some old tech is not as irrelevant as you may think too. If they have anything on Java, try to do that. It’s still widely used. But cobol, fortran, ada, php, that sort of thing… Those are dead or dying. You may not get the choice but you can at least state your preference and hope for the best.
This happened to a Muslim dentist here in Miami. He lost his job as a result. He later clarified he did it to deescalate the situation and promote peace. But the damage has already been done and he is now an antisemite to many.
Did he also explain how tearing down the poster of a missing child would deescalate the situation and promote peace? This line of causation doesn’t seem obvious to me.
Assuming this is in the USA it’s either family that is hurting and wants to show it, or, more likely, some White National Christian Fashists who see this as a possibility for a new PizzaGate/Adrenochrome panic, this time with actual children involved, but as usual with call to actions that help no one but hurt innocent bystanders.
All I can say is everything about this conflict is getting out of hand, and this is a big part of that. The “remember the human” rule isn’t acknowledged by anyone over there, and with the elephants fighting, the grass continues to get trampled. Saddest part is we’ll probably see a bigger version of what’s going on when Pakistan and India boil over some years from now.
It’s difficult to explain if you’re not in their cultural atmosphere reading the room (in my case I have family from there). Outsiders can currently see propaganda show-offs going on, India is maneuvering thought in favor of Israel (one might say going against previous sympathies in the process) while Pakistan is covertly one of the strongest sympathizers of Palestine. Nothing out of the ordinary, but it’s the subtleties in the expressions that would raise the first alarms if an outsider begged for hints that something is about to erupt. I’d give it one to three years.
Thanks, looks great but I can’t get it to work! Tried it with file and URL and I can’t get it to play. The app finds all the channels but when I press play nothing happens (endless loading). Have tried different player in settings as well.
If I open VLC my channels play without any problem.
try checking the player settings i had good luck with mpv (you have to install separately) you can try asking support to the author or create an issue.
Suits that actually fit. Does nobody know anymore how a man in a suit is supposed to look? They all think they’re so fashionable, instead they look like they walked with a paper suit through a steam bath. Awful. Ah, and have you ever tried to get a real wool suit? Had to let mine have made. That. Was. Expensive.
Don’t go for the conservative position. I chose the same path a year ago and - as others said - hate every second of work there. The higher salary is not worth the bad time you’ll likely have. This is only my personal experience but maybe it helps you avoid the same mistake I did.
After reading the Jon Ronson book “So you’ve been publicly shamed” where he interviewed a load of people that were outed for both bigger and smaller ‘crimes’, no, I don’t agree with it. Doxxing and other public shaming can have consequences you could not expect.
Plus, what if you get the ID wrong and dox someone innocent? That happens all the time too.
Never before in history have minor disputes been able to be aired to millions of people over the internet. I think it makes the response a bit disproportionate.
