Crazypartypony, in Why wasn't NYC's Central Park concept copied by other cities?

Toronto - High Park and Downsview Park, depending how central you’re looking for. Both massive and in busy parts of the city.

Presi300, in Gamers who have gamed for a long time
@Presi300@lemmy.world avatar

I haven’t gamed for a “long” time, as I got into it when I got my 1st laptop like 5 years ago… And I can’t say that I feel the burnout yet, especially with great games like Baldur’s gate 3 being released this year

lemmefixdat4u, in Where can I NEUTRALLY keep up to date about the Palestina/Israel situation?

All I can suggest is to read many sources. Keep a mental tally sheet. See which sources correct themselves when they are proven wrong. Note how often they present provably false information. Try to look up the original source material (some will misquote or distort to advance their agenda). Look for widespread corroboration from other sources. After a while you’ll know how each spins their information, how well they vet their material, and their overall journalistic integrity. That will allow you to rank credibility.

Misinformation often has only one source, and that source will usually have a history of misinformation or extreme bias.

Etterra, in Cookie purchase or hell?

No. That question is now the default of all POS (point of sale) systems. If they’re not wait staff, bar tenders, delivery, or performing some other service, there is literally no reason to tip them.

s_s, in Cookie purchase or hell?

You cannot save the world by tipping.

That said, tip table service, delivery drivers and valets if local customs encourage it.

BudgetBandit, in Cookie purchase or hell?

I don’t even tip when ordering food to-go. I buy goods, not service.

Rentlar, in Cookie purchase or hell?

No, but USCBP might deport you to a country where tipping isn’t a thing, if they were to find out.

mojo, in Gamers who have gamed for a long time

Happened to me where I felt loss if enjoyment over any game, that it felt like a waste of time and a chore. That eventually passed, definitely find them fun again.

GentlemanLoser,

Same story here but the lack of joy led me to be dx’d with depression

Being on threads like these?

FluffyPotato, in Gamers who have gamed for a long time

Most of my friends don’t play video games anymore but I love em more than when I was a kid. Like in school I had no time to play but now I can work from home and I can automate lots of it so plenty of time for hobbies.

The only issue is my tastes are rather niche, I think I finished every story and choice focused RPG where you make your own character. I do like games like Stardew Valley or Minecraft and I play those while a new RPG comes along.

elscallr, in Where can I NEUTRALLY keep up to date about the Palestina/Israel situation?
@elscallr@lemmy.world avatar

This is a topic that has centuries of history, dating back well before the existence of either Israel or Palestine as countries. You won’t find a single source that can actually get into the thousands of nuances involved. Don’t think there are only two sides, either. Read from everywhere, make up your own mind, but honestly you’ll never fully understand it.

ohlaph, in Where can I NEUTRALLY keep up to date about the Palestina/Israel situation?

Read a few sources from both sides. It definitely isn’t a one sided situation.

ohlaph, in What things do you do while eating?

I will use my meal time to watch TV, listen to music, or talk on the phone.

If I’m with others, typically just focus on eating and fun conversation. Alone or just the wife and I, we usually watch something or chit chat.

cyberpunk007,

Talk on the phone while eating? Wild.

ohlaph,

Usually with family that lives far away also eating, like sharing a meal indirectly.
