I hate what the internet is becoming thanks to those mega billion Corp.

Let me set the stage: Newly single dad of a young kid. After COVID-19 I haven’t done much outside of my home and taking care of my kid. I work full time-remote, and between the kiddo and leaving room for a hobby or taking care of the house, it seems like the only other thing I have time for is sleep....

I know there are a bunch of answers to this question “over yonder” and thought I’d ask here instead. The more exhaustive the checklist, the better....

Or, alternatively, what did you do to another person which got you blacklisted from their life?

How do you sort your posts in subscribed communities? I’ve been sorting by active, but I keep seeing older stuff that I’ve already seen. Is there a better way to sort?

I find i’m doing more activities in the real world, sitting with my thoughts, and not constantly needing content to fill the void (as much)...

So I’ve traveling and tried a few and they all seem to have stopped maintenance. Chipped pain, walls that desperately need paint, things that have been cleaned but just not thoroughly.

Worked great when the artist formerly known as Prince changed his name to a symbol.

Was there even a mass exodus? I largely avoid Reddit now, but I do kind of doubt that they’ve been hurt in any meaningful way by all the protests and people leaving…

Whether it’s music, books, games, tv or movies, if you tune out most of the marketing, how do you go about finding new or old stuff? Word of mouth, new marketing (i.e. influencers/YouTubers), or do you ride the related artists/recommendations on stuff like Spotify/Last.fm/YouTube/Netflix/etc.? Or perhaps something else...

Assuming you carry a flash drive around with you, what’s on it? What movies, pictures or books? Any utility programs you find yourself using? Diagnostic tools?

Most instances seem to be putting a lot of emphasis on their code of conduct specifically in regard to insults and harassment. I’m not against that and i understand the concept of “your server your rules” but i’m just curious to understand why many are so concerned with slurs while they don’t seem to care much about...

I stopped drinking alcohol some years ago. Before that I hardly consumed any alcohol at all for many years, but in my college years and maybe some years after that, I drank socially like “everybody else”. But I gradually kind of got tired of dealing with the bad feelings (physical and emotional), so I drank less and less....

Lemmy appears to use more data than Reddit, so I’m thinking that maybe the images I see while scrolling are full sized instead of smaller previews. Anyone can confirm?

Going back to the Old Ways, but I’m having trouble finding up to date news links. Many lists seem to be outdated and crash into paywalls or are just broken.
