MisterMcBolt, in How to succeed as an artist

Some years ago I was struggling badly at a job I was ill-suited for due to having terrible social anxiety. I went to the internet for advice on what sort of work would be a good fit for me, and one of the reoccurring answers at the time was to be a stay-at-home-parent. Like wow, why didn’t I ever think of that?! I’ll just go out this weekend and marry a rich woman and start keeping home!

cantstopthesignal,

There’s nothing more fulfilling than ordering the au pair around while sipping on a margarita.

ULS,

I can’t even.

IWantToFuckSpez,

You have an au pair? Ugh pauper. Can’t afford live-in nannies and butlers?

ULS, (edited )

I recently made a post about moving. And people acted as if I can have a choice or that simply saving would mean I could afford a better place.

…no… Saved money doesn’t grow a livable interest.

It’s wild how people think everyone’s living like they came from a Modern Family type life.

I got one realistic response about living in my car.

Honestly people gave you good advice without being condescending, and they didn’t “act as if you can have a choice”, rather they asked you for more info because you didn’t even say why you “need” to move. You didn’t even reply to some of the best comments in there so idk what you expected.

Alternatively furry porn apparently

sebinspace,

Alternatively be okay with not being famous until after death.

That’s a bit like trying to become rich from writing books to my understanding. Some people manage to build enough of a fanbase to make a lot of money that way, but most people who try it won’t make such a huge amount.

Sometimes it’s about the journey though.

Which is why I only dabble in it as a hobby and don’t generally take commissions from people (that and my skills aren’t as good as I’d like to do that, but that’s another matter)

Fixbeat, in How to succeed as an artist

Same advice for billionaires.

Or even millionaires much of the time.

Millionaires either; a) rich parents or; b) freaking lucky in some other way.

This piece was from when I was in my early 20s, I was depressed and didn’t know what to do, so I took a year to travel overseas and Americanize other cultures and get inspired by others unfortunate circumstances. All proceeds go to the latest iPhone.

    Maybe try dying

    feck_it,

    Or die trying

    hydroptic,

    Die trying to die?

Peppycito, in How to succeed as an artist

In art school my professor talked about how you’ll only start getting grant money after you’ve become successful and don’t really need it anymore. He also talked about how rich housewives end up making really good art because they don’t have to worry about making sellable art.

He was totally right. Being a working artist is a grind.

As advised already, you should probably consider moving your community elsewhere. You have been doing a good job so far, and the community seems quite active.

    ShittyKopper, in Looking For Mods

Consider moving the community to another instance of your choosing. .world admins will handle reopening it with new mods for your behalf.
