MagnusRobotFighter, in Lemmy 0.19 compatibility?

I was logged out of my Lemmy.ml account and now I can’t get back in on the app. My Lemmy.world account is fine.

kuro_neko, in Lemmy 0.19 compatibility?
@kuro_neko@lemmy.ca avatar

I’m monitoring the 0.19 release. If you’re in the 152 beta it should have some compatibility fixes (and currently rolling that out to everyone).

SquiffSquiff,

Thank you for this. Yes, I am in the beta. I am on 1.0.152 and can no longer access lemmy.sdf.org (0.19RC5, TBH a LOT of problems with that instance…) or lemmynsfw.com (BE: 0.19.0-rc.8) using Connect. I realise that this is impacting many developers and their apps! Good luck!

kuro_neko,
@kuro_neko@lemmy.ca avatar

Ok thank you that’s helpful. I’ll take a look at those two instances and what’s going on.

Using version 1.0.153

I get For lemmynsfw.com (BE: 0.19.0-rc.8-lemmynsfw)

Error 00000 Future not completed

I can now login to lemmy.sdf.org (UI: 0.19.0-rc.11 BE: 0.19.0-rc.10)

wellheh, (edited )

SDF finally lets me login. Thank you for the fix

1984, (edited ) in Lemmy 0.19 compatibility?
@1984@lemmy.today avatar

I mean, 0.19 is not even out officially yet I believe. Instances are still on release candidate versions. And just a few days ago, they said they would install it on Lemmy.ml to test it out in a proper environment.

It’s possible that app developers may not be able to drop everything in the last 48 hours to make their app work with a prerelease version. :)

SquiffSquiff,

I’m not asking people to drop everything. I’m asking if it’s on the roadmap

1984,
@1984@lemmy.today avatar

Oh OK. Yes it’s on every app developers roadmap. :)

mp3,
@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

To be fair this seems like a good time to implement those change in dev before it hits in prod…

1984, (edited )
@1984@lemmy.today avatar

Yeah but they wanted to run it in production to make sure there aren’t weird bugs that only shows in production I guess.

Stuff like complex federation bugs occurring during certain conditions, things that are hard to see in a test environment.

This version is only on Lemmy.ml now so doesn’t really affect most of us… :)

@mp3@lemmy.ca avatar

lemmy.sdf.org already switched to 0.19-rc8

kuro_neko, in Getting API error: temporarily_disabled whenever I try to view comments.
@kuro_neko@lemmy.ca avatar

Is this happening on all instances or only a specific instance? Does it happen even if you’re a guest user or signed out?

Travalanche,
@Travalanche@lemmy.world avatar

All instances, as far as I can tell.
I tried logging out, exiting the app completely, then I opened it back up, went on All, and clicked the first 20 or so posts with >3 comments. It didn’t display any of the comments. I’d say 85ish% returned the error above, while the rest returned “No comments” (even though the post card showed comments were made).

RogueBanana, in Connect Version 1.0.152 Released on the Play Store Beta Channel

Oh is he back from his break already? Haven’t seen him mention anything about it

remotelove,
@remotelove@lemmy.ca avatar

He pokes his head in here every once in a while. The last update was actually on November 18th, a few days after this post was made.

Honestly, Connect is stable enough now that any dangling bugs are tolerable and anything I would ask about in this community would likely be a feature request anyway.

I just had a weird cyclical crash happen though and had to bounce my phone. Connect was triggering a continuous loop of it being hung. It’s not happening now and hasn’t happened before. I blame Android.

Chris5aNSFW, in Can't download images

What type of phone do you have? I have a Samsung Galaxy S22ultra and it works fine when the app is in the regular location on the phone. However if I have the app in the Secure Folder and try and download it doesn’t work (or goes somewhere that can’t be found). I had reported this bug awhile back but no fix as of yet. Other Lemmy apps don’t have the same issue.

threelonmusketeers, in Can't download images

If no one else has experienced the problem, you might want to consider providing your OS and app version to help the developer pinpoint the problem, if one exists.

CJOtheReal, in Can't download images

Works perfectly for me, maybe it goes to a hidden folder (folder with .nomedia file in it) or your internet is ass (but so is mine right now i have H (2G+ i think) and it works)

Melonpoly, in Can't download images

Images download fine for me

Just tested, went to the gallery app as expected.

NemoWuMing, in Add option to not auto-load videos while on mobile data

I installed both Connect and Boost, and I use Boost on mobile because I could set to only load small media on mobile.

Each of these apps have their strong points, and they coexist very nicely.

can, in Connect does not collapse cross-posts into the same post in the post feed

Does any app support this?

mac, (edited )
@mac@programming.dev avatar

Havent done a check on all of them yet but figure they should all match the behaviour of the main lemmy frontend and its better behaviour to have then to just let it flood

So far I made this post here and opened up an issue in the jerboa repository since those were the two that were reported

threelonmusketeers,

If it were implemented, how would comment threads work? Would they also be combined?

mac, (edited )
@mac@programming.dev avatar

no, theyre still two different posts and have different post views outside of the feed. Just one is more prominently shown in the feed while the rest are just links in the cross-posted to section below the post in the feed when it detects that multiple posts have the same url. Comment threads combining would be a separate feature

threelonmusketeers,

So if I were to tap on the post in the feed, which post’s comment section would I see? The first post? Most recent post? The most popular post?

mac, (edited )
@mac@programming.dev avatar

lemmy-ui does the oldest post

but you can get to any other post instead by tapping them in the cross-posted to section

https://programming.dev/pictrs/image/58b7bb15-c23f-4a65-b342-c81e0be17705.png

So in this if you tap the title you go to the post on gamedev since its the oldest post. But if you tap game_design at the bottom you go to the post on game_design

can,

I agree it would be a great QOL feature but I tried pretty much every app (on android) and none supported it. I follow the app communities too but I may have missed an update post.

mac, (edited )
@mac@programming.dev avatar

yeah ill probably have to make an issue on all of their repositories

its pretty much only supported by the main instance web frontends (lemmy-ui and pangora-ui) (been supported on lemmy-ui since before all of the apps were made)

currently recommended in programming.dev to cross post to as many communities as you can to give content to the lower activity communities and since there tends to be a lot of overlap with topics but thats conflicting with current app behaviours
