stark, in KDE Connect is the best! Also why isn't the app called KDE Konnekt 🤣

Happy to stumble across this meme. I didn’t know KDE Connect was a thing

Esca, in KDE Connect is the best! Also why isn't the app called KDE Konnekt 🤣

The first time it paused my YouTube video inside Firefox when a call came in on my phone, it blew my mind. And then when the call ended, it just casually resumed the video. I love it. That, the clipboard syncing and easy sharing of files between devices make it absolutely awesome to have.

Better to avoid 3 k’s where possible.

Mozilla recently tried to integrate some AI stuff into its MDN. The corresponding Github issue is correctly titled “MDN can now automatically lie to people seeking technical information”.

MildlyArdvark, in chroot is still black magic

I never understood these. Arch has always been rock solid for me and in 10 years or so I have never had to chroot to fix an issue. The most annoying issues have been related to PGP signatures or old certificates but those have been easily fixed.

What is it you people do to your arch installs that fucks them up so much?

waldyrious, in Don't judge me I know that frequently they represent almost the same softwares but is just a matter of principles.

IMO both of these ended up being poor names.

“Open source” can be co-opted to mean any project with public source code even if it’s not open contribution (think SQLite, and many of the projects effectively run by major tech corporations).

“Free software” falls victim to the eternal mixup with freeware, requiring the endless repetition of the “beer vs. speech” analogy.

I personally think “Libre software” is the term that best encapsulates the intended meaning while being unambiguous and not vulnerable to misinterpretation.

Linux loads the gtk libs when your desktop starts because it’s a major component of gnu/gnome. Windows doesn’t until you launch an app that would use it. It’s not a small library.
