Luddites, all of them

eee, in You really need to think about what is more important...

IT "enthusiast" indeed lol.

Lucky you didn't get caught in the crossfire

JunctionSystem, in [REPOST] "I don’t care if he is dead, put him on the phone.”

I'm not sure what she expected to happen?

bighi,

It’s a made-up story.

MidgarZolom,

The above comment is a made up story.

Probably she wanted to stall the process as much as posible so that they could bill the service some more before cancelling.
That or they have a script to make the service as hard to cancel as posible and she was just parroting that, without really paying attention to what OP was saying.

Serdan, in [REPOST] You can't continue working from home because you go idle in chat too often

A good example of how capitalists want exclusive ownership of your time, even to the detriment of productivity.

theblueredditrefugee,

No kidding! It's like they don't even care about profit, they just want to hurt people

ethane, in You really need to think about what is more important...

Manager: "be my bitch or you're fired"

Worker: "k bye"

Manager: shocked Pikachu

c2h6, in Admin work matters!

Some companies succeed partially because of management, others succeed DESPITE their management...

c2h6, in You really need to think about what is more important...

If I were Bottom, I might not quit if my pay never decreased. I'd take the hit on my dignity to continue getting a Director salary for a worker's job...

dick, in You really need to think about what is more important...

chads of the world unite!

Kaiser, in "Don't touch my bag!" OK, I'll do exactly that!
@Kaiser@lemmy.world avatar

Love these stories, thanks for sharing.

darcy,

Thank you for reading it.

darcy, in You really need to think about what is more important...

Ah, the classic tale of "Manager calls employee's bluff, loses and panics". Always makes for a good story.

dystop, in You really need to think about what is more important...
@dystop@lemmy.world avatar

dude your storytelling style is ace!

hats off to Chad.

Wheatley wanted everyone to know that he had this doctorate, as evidenced by his insistence in correcting any employee who did not address him as “Dr. Wheatley”. He will be henceforth referred to in this post as Mr. Wheatley.

This made me chuckle.

I won't deny it, at least one third of my motivation for making this post was to deliver that diss.

(the other two thirds are split between Chad deserving the recognition, and doing my part to make this place more attractive than Reddit)

worth it!

mdwhite999, in [REPOST] Get rid of my vacation? Have fun replacing me.

Is it legal for them to remove people's accrued benefits?

corsicanguppy,

Depends: Is it America?

dystop,
@dystop@lemmy.world avatar

probably yes, if they give you time to use up the benefits.

mdwhite999, in How to close down Production 101

Did you end up returning to work for them?

sleepyducky,

Oh hell no, I had already relocated to another city in the meantime. Plus the HR manager was present when I tendered in my resignation and said nothing. So no way I would return there

bob, in "Don't touch my bag!" OK, I'll do exactly that!

You are absolutely a good storyteller. I enjoyed this.

darcy,

Thank you, you're too kind.

We were disqualified due to my automations because they considered them cheating.

What the hell? I've never heard of anyone being scolded for being more productive.

I guess everyone in your office must write everything out on parchment and quill then.

sleepyducky,

15 years ago that was quite accurate: notebooks and pens. That company hated anything digital
