Meltrax,

Should oil the brake pads too, don’t want them to squeak.

rug_burn,
hakunawazo,

Also less microplastics by abrasion on the road.

Smooth ride to the mortuary

Todesschnitzel,

As with speed, as with smooth driving: start with the suspension.

EatYouWell,

It also plays a big role in towing capacity.

wreckedcarzz,
@wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world avatar

brb sanding down my suspension

LemmyKnowsBest,

Why stop there? If sanding things down makes performance more optimal, I’mma sand down every component in my vehicle.

atocci,
@atocci@kbin.social avatar

No no you're missing the point. Sand the road flat.

Globulart,

You’re not thinking this all the way through, why sand flat when you can sand downhill?

LemmyKnowsBest,

Aye

F1 is everything but smooth

Todesschnitzel,

A look to die for.

PR3CiSiON,

If it’s not raining/snowing etc. then it’s actually safer and better.

Asudox,
@Asudox@lemmy.world avatar

How exactly is it safer?

NJA,

A drive to the store would have the wires showing. These tires weren’t designed for this

jcs,
@jcs@lemmy.world avatar

Well, safer and better in the driver’s mind until they fly too close to the sun and realize following the accident that there was a puncture or that the rubber delaminated off the belt during the commute. This happened fairly regularly at the track I worked at, though that was more from folks running their slicks too long.

papabobolious,

The tyres are worn down to a point they were never intended to run at, I don’t know but the rubber compound could be completely different that far down, not to mention the risk of punctures.

DrCake,

If slick tyres are used in F1, they’re good enough for me.

IWantToFuckSpez,

Make sure you use your tire warmers every morning.

FinalRemix,

Use the butane crack torch. Got it.
