I always thought it was a joke about how poorly made horror films were made, pure schlock, but came to find out there’s a full movie behind that joke.

leave_it_blank, Definitely do! It’s a fantastic parody of the 50s horror genre. It’s cheap, it’s ridiculous, it’s so much fun!
And the director is Joe Dante. Edit: Whoops, John Landis is the director. I always confuse those two.
