Creddit, in it sure beats having to buy it, but seriously come on...

There are a bunch of online tools that are free and let you upload a PDF to have it go through OCR.

Just Google “Free PDF OCR” and click through all the ads to upload, then give them a temporary email address to get a download link to the finished product.

Hot tip: There are free temporary email address sites too, if you need one to avoid getting on their ad lists.

Agent641,

If you have a jpg or png file, you can upload it to Google drive, then right click and open in Google docs, and it will OCR the text for you.

Look, it’s all about authorial intent - if the author had wanted their book to be easy to reference or accessible to people who use screen readers, they would have published a DRM free PDF in the first place. Gotta respect the artist’s vision.

Gork, in it sure beats having to buy it, but seriously come on...

OCR’ing a book before uploading saves so much hours on the user end of things. I wish it were done more so I don’t have to leave my computer running overnight to batch OCR stuff.

Peter Sunde, the coolest of the three Pirate Bay admins.

The other guys (Gottfrid and Fredrik) had more technical chops, but Sunde brought a lot of thoughtful politics to the table, had better social skills, and was the only one to actually willingly surrender to his prison sentence while the other admins skipped the country to avoid prison, only to be arrested and deported later anyway.

tootnbuns,

In the podcast he also talks about how much he hates them and they all gate each other.

Apollo2323, in Cool one hour podcast with peter sunde

I agree with you! Peter it’s a great guy , he put Hollywood on it’s knees and use technology against this greedy corporations.

Wait…Tumblr still an thing.

PieMePlenty,

Yeah. It’s better now that it’s not in the public eye or as popular. Still no porn tho :/

hal_5700X,
@hal_5700X@lemmy.world avatar

So all the crazy people (otherkin, headmates, and so on) moved to Twitter?

PieMePlenty,

I mean, crazy people are everywhere. The more users, the more crazy people. Less users, less crazy.

Sethayy,

Now its just full of people not hating on anyone for much, and people just vibing doing things they like.

I’d say the healthiest its ever been

The BS in the last comment aside, what about the meme needs moderating? Was it a repost, or is the argument it makes unacceptable on reddit’s piracy board?

@pelikan@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Seizing domains is HUGE blow but never a “Total Destruction”. Such ring is not operated by single enthusiast, it’s runned by a team of professional pirate siteops who do this for pretty comfortable living and who foresee such risks and have a plan for this type of incident. And i’m sure they have another bunch of domains already registered and fed to google. There’s no significant difference between getting domain banned in the country from where 95% of traffic is coming (and this is frequent issue) and loosing this domain at all. Your traffic is gone, your money is gone. So seizing domains without busting servers and siteops is far from winning final battle.

matey, in How to use Lidarr Custom Lists?

Alternately (and better): is there a way to get something like Jellyseerr but for music?

NarrativeBear,

Finamp for all your local music, you will need a jellyfin server. Plexamp is pretty good as well, but you will need a Plex server.

Count042,

Jellyseer is like a request server for radar and sonarr, allowing people who use emby or jellyfin to make radar download a requested movie.

shrugal,

Ombi can do that afaik.

iopq, in ACE Shuts Down Huge Football Piracy Ring, Total Destruction TBC

There should be an open source p2p application kind of like torrent, but for live streaming things

pelikan,
@pelikan@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

It’s here for ages and it’s called sopcast. I was using it decade ago for soccer translations before moving to IPTV. After quick googling i see it’s still a thing.

iopq,

Where’s the source code?

vulgarcynic,
@vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.works avatar

Do you have some IPTV recs? DM if you’re not cool with posting here. Thanks!

SchizoDenji, (edited )

AceStream?

The performance wasn’t good.

iopq,

If we had source code maybe I could fix the issue, but some adware piece of shit program that barely works is not the solution.
