There are a bunch of online tools that are free and let you upload a PDF to have it go through OCR.
Just Google “Free PDF OCR” and click through all the ads to upload, then give them a temporary email address to get a download link to the finished product.
Hot tip: There are free temporary email address sites too, if you need one to avoid getting on their ad lists.
Look, it’s all about authorial intent - if the author had wanted their book to be easy to reference or accessible to people who use screen readers, they would have published a DRM free PDF in the first place. Gotta respect the artist’s vision.
OCR’ing a book before uploading saves so much hours on the user end of things. I wish it were done more so I don’t have to leave my computer running overnight to batch OCR stuff.
Peter Sunde, the coolest of the three Pirate Bay admins.
The other guys (Gottfrid and Fredrik) had more technical chops, but Sunde brought a lot of thoughtful politics to the table, had better social skills, and was the only one to actually willingly surrender to his prison sentence while the other admins skipped the country to avoid prison, only to be arrested and deported later anyway.
The BS in the last comment aside, what about the meme needs moderating? Was it a repost, or is the argument it makes unacceptable on reddit’s piracy board?
Seizing domains is HUGE blow but never a “Total Destruction”. Such ring is not operated by single enthusiast, it’s runned by a team of professional pirate siteops who do this for pretty comfortable living and who foresee such risks and have a plan for this type of incident. And i’m sure they have another bunch of domains already registered and fed to google. There’s no significant difference between getting domain banned in the country from where 95% of traffic is coming (and this is frequent issue) and loosing this domain at all. Your traffic is gone, your money is gone. So seizing domains without busting servers and siteops is far from winning final battle.
It’s here for ages and it’s called sopcast. I was using it decade ago for soccer translations before moving to IPTV. After quick googling i see it’s still a thing.
