pewgar_seemsimandroid,

I don’t see any issues with ublock

JokeDeity,

Like the majority I am using Ublock and Firefox, but I’ve noticed over the last month it is very slow to catch up to YouTube ads and I’m seeing them make it through a lot more often.

yata,

Firefox + ublock still works perfectly fine for me.

Burn_The_Right,

They don’t roll these measures out to all YT accounts at once. I had to start a new google account to get the uBlock/Firefox combo to work again.

Same, I never saw the adblocker screen to this day.

If you have the means, you could self-host a Piped server? Otherwise, try out piped.video.

Here is a website that keeps track of the latest YouTube anti-adblock scripts and if uBlock Origin’s filters are updated to bypass it: drhyperion451.github.io/does-uBO-bypass-yt/

darkstar,

Using Chrome and uBlock for work, no issues.

Firefox and uBlock for personal, no issues.

Try only using uBlock, uninstall all other extensions. Works great for me on both Firefox and Chrome.

If you are using chrome, ditch it and use something like braver or firefox.

We are already in 2024, which means that Chrome probably does not support manifest-V2 anymore. (What an unexpected turn of events)

For PC: Libredirect plugin on firefox and point it to freetube (Freetube.io)

For Android: Grayjay (grayjay.app) (Sideload it, don’t install from the play store)

For IOS: Pick an invidious instance and ponder the bad choices that led to you using an apple product.

JackGreenEarth,

Use libretube, which is free software, unlike greyjay. It’s on F-Droid.

Grayjay has a much better user experience and incorporates multiple platforms, sponsorblock, etc al.

Libretube is ok at best. Newpipe+sponsorblock via Izzy on droid is better in every way.

Never mind. See below.

Glaive0,

Hmm…

So I only use Brave for YouTube. I definitely won’t be recommending it, but I’m torn between whether I’m being a leech of ad-free user generating what should be near zero revenue or if I’m being valuable as a number to ad to user counts.

Firefox + uBlock Origin. if you keep seeing the anti-adblock message there are certain filters you must input. I’m sure you can find it somewhere on the Internet. If it comes back then you simply refresh your filters.

I can’t find it, do you specifically know where?

Azzu, (edited )

There are no certain filters. If you see the message, it’s 99% of the time other adblockers/addons/maybe even browser settings interfering. If you literally have stock Firefox with uBlock you will see no ads.

Brave usually zero ads

capital,

I’m still just using Firefox and ublock origin…

Jeremyward,

Same, no problems yet.

Igloojoe,

Same. Havent noticed any slowdown. Havent noticed any ads.

I also use some extensions to make the suggestions page not look like ass. But those are cosmetic.

Hmm. I had it pop up for the first time in ages today, but updating filters and clearing cookies did the trick.

BlackSkinnedJew,

NewPipe x SponsorBlock

pastermil,

I love newpipe! I wonder if there’s anything similar for desktop?

BlackSkinnedJew, (edited )

I didn’t know bro, I just use desktop sometimes but I use brave if I need to see a YouTube video, it works WO any problem with the stock adblocker.

JimboDHimbo,

There is, it’s called FreeTube. I use it all the time.

pastermil,

Thanks!

zingo, (edited )

Yeah, I second Freetube on PC.

Even has sponsor block built in.

Works on Linux (flatpak) as well.
