FriendBesto, in What is your tracker stats?

There are other apps on F-Droid that use Exodus that do sort of the same. At least they do not ask for root.

Gooey0210, in What is your tracker stats?

Tor, metamask, two gcams(no network permissions), librera(i tried avoiding using it because of this in the past), and element, schildi, openweather 1000027182

For the future, maybe search your name and see if there are any results that are you. Then try name and your city, see if there is anything.

Omega_Haxors, (edited ) in I'm getting doxxed by a troll

Doxing is legally classified as harassment and is a criminal matter; contact law enforcement. Even if they don’t do anything you’ll get in their records so when your harasser tries to do something (like swatting) they’ll know that something is up.

Besides contacting the admins, there’s nothing you can do at this point. Prevention is better than cure when it comes to internet privacy

Don’t use a jamming device that’d be effective, wrong and illegal

Throwback to when they announced releasing a simple phone. Fun times.

Cheradenine,

That was amazing. Someone linked to alibaba where you could buy the same 4? Year old phone for something like $120USD. Someone else dredged up a weird eastern European connection for the ‘FOSS’ OS. And they promised support, which ended when you bought the pos.

For everyone still using Simple Tools apps, switch to Fossify it’s a fork that has all that crap removed

TurtleTourParty,

So far I only see Gallery, File Manager, and Calendar on IzzyOnDroid. Hopefully SMS and Contacts will be added soon.

rzlatic,
@rzlatic@lemmy.ml avatar

dialer app is released too.

Salix, (edited )
fmstrat,

You can use Obtainium instead of F-droid. You can install Izzy, FD, or even better, direct from GitHub and other repos instead.

Apollo2323,

Wait what happened I am lost? Are they bad apps now?

sadbehr,

Yea. They got bought by a bad company.

Kolli,

Rather it was sold to a bad company.

The dev will have hard time getting anyone trust him anymore.

Salix,

Yes, but its always a question of what providers do you trust.

lemmyreader,

Agreed. Trust is always a thing on the Internet. And uptime too. searx.be / yewtu.be (From the same person. They posted when their previous provider took them down) has been stable and useful for me for a long time. I do trust Disroot and they have search too : search.disroot.org If it does not work you can complain via their XMPP chat, or file a bug at one of their other services.

What’s your level of trust in their provider, netcup? For instance I would never trust anything hosted at Hetzner and Linode because they’ve been known to intercept traffic.

Interesting. Do you have sources for this statement ?

chayleaf,

note that basically any ISP will intercept traffic if asked by a government - they’re literally legally required ro

Hmm, this app is also in the F-Droid repository with its old outfit. https://lemmy.ml/pictrs/image/52884e64-a86b-45b4-97c5-0eaa631678d2.png

Luckily it got forked : github.com/FossifyOrg/SMS-Messenger

Flaimbot, in New Advertisement and Internet connection permissions for Simple SMS Messenger on Google Play Store...

sounds like an uninstall

TxzK, in New Advertisement and Internet connection permissions for Simple SMS Messenger on Google Play Store...

Simple Contacts and SMS were the only simple apps I’ve been using. Fortunately I’ve found Connect You, which does both. So goodbye simple

CalicoJack,

The Fossify forks of simple apps should be coming soon too, if you want to stick with something familiar. They’ve already released their calendar, gallery, and file manager, the rest should be ready pretty soon.

Mereo, in New Advertisement and Internet connection permissions for Simple SMS Messenger on Google Play Store...

sigh. Most people will just accept the new default permissions without blinking an eye. They’re taking advantage of people’s ignorance.
