Don’t use Outlook for non-Outlook email services. Problem solved. I am required to use Outlook for my work email, but I keep all of my personal email separate, accessed with FOSS email clients.
Good for Google (ikr) for basically telling other tracking/ad companies to f*** off.
Also, bad, for the monopoly reasons.
I see iOS folks getting told to use Private Relay(?) all the time (with i-something disabled). How is this any different than that, other than being run by G?
Not going to use it myself, but I guess its sort of a step in the right direction for the uninformed tech-illiterate. The next step would be to show the average person how to do the same thing without G’s help.
You could just override your local DNS to do so, but you’ll end up breaking other sites that try to load it at some point. Maybe try only using a bookmark?
Yes but only if you use their Gapps packages unmodified or don’t use their services at all. They don’t look as kindly when it comes to microG and Aurora, or even ReVanced, and they still fight to make sure Google Pay doesn’t work through SafetyNet and Play Integrity, and you’ll only know at checkout too.
People have been banned for using Aurora. You can mess with the OS but they don’t want you to mess with their apps and especially not if it affects how much money they make off you.
Believe me, I also say Fuck Google, and I don’t want to get into it but there are certain apps that I download from unofficial sources (🏴☠️) and I really like them and consider that they deserve my money, and the only way I have is to pay for them in the Google Playstore.
But… maybe you also want to use an Invidious instance that uses googlevideo javascript instead of proxying the videos? So you dont actually suck their resources.
Because Freetube runs on Electron which is Google, and I am not sure how hardened it is, probably just “not bad”.
Do you know any minimal Invidious UI you can run from a Podman/Docker container? Like just the frontend, so that I can use Firefox instead of that. I think having that as a base and adding the freetube features would be great.
They very much do control it and are quick to implement unwanted features in corporate interest like Web Integrity API, which has been removed again only after backlash.
No they don’t: you’re free to create your own fork, or compile out the stuff you don’t like from the main repo - which is what all the Chromium-based privacy-focused browsers out there do, including Brave.

Use your favorite search engine and you'll probably find something. Or self host a Piped instance. It's very similar to Invidious but imo even better.
Nobody will be able to give you a definitive answer. Google's ways are unknowable. You are running the risk of losing your Google account by having a Google account.
