N0x0n, in Invidious dragging to a halt

Yeah hard times for privacy focused youtube alternatives… I don’t have any issues at the moment with LibreTube on android. But it’s bases on the Piped api.

But a few months back there were less working servers. Maybe because of youtube’s new policy? Have to investigate invidious and piped github’s issue page

BurningRiver, in What site can scan sites for trackers?

DuckDuckGo browser will block and list trackers and third party requests. I use it on iOS and there’s a desktop app as well. Not sure about android though.

Woo Librewolf getting listed as an option :D

Almost all my others were “other”

FutileRecipe, in what are your recommendations for a good privacy friendly sms app?

Since SMS is already sent in the clear, I actually use Google Messages. For those who also have it, it upgrades the SMS to RCS with end-to-end encryption. Sure, it’s nowhere near as good as Signal (which OP says these people won’t use), but it’s better than plain-text SMS.

How RCS chats keep your conversations secure

@jerrythegenius@lemmy.world avatar

I normally use muPDF

helpImTrappedOnline, (edited ) in How bad is Idea of .Zip as password manager?

I use KeePassXC

It stores your passwords in an encrypted file, then i use the random password generator, the browser extension and free phone apps to autofill everything.

(It is up to you to sync the file between devices)

FriendBesto, in Riot Games Now Requires Kernel-Level Anti-Cheat Software for League of Legends, Following Valorant's Implementation

Kernel level? Hahaha. No thanks.

CowsLookLikeMaps, in EFF’s Street-Level Surveillance project shines a light on the surveillance technologies that law enforcement agencies routinely deploy in our communities

WhereAreTheEyes is a neat project to catalog surveillance cameras.

TheHobbyist, (edited )

Is the app still working? Doesn’t seem to have been updated in 6 years

Mobile safari even blocked more than this website found.

dysprosium,

Sooo safari is hallucinating or blacklight failed us

@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

Try newsbreak.com, that’s a shitshow.

dysprosium,

YESSS! Exactly what I was looking for again. I can’t believe this site is so hard to find manually. Not the right keywords? Invisible…

Loucypher,

That is because search engines are shittier by the day

lemmyreader,

Thanks for that.

LWD, in What site can scan sites for trackers?

This sounds like Exodus but Exodus is made for apps not websites. Apps are easier because they tend to list all that stuff up front.

risencode, in Privacy Concerns on Lemmy: A Call for More User Control

The only privacy setting I can encourage on any social media site is don’t share private stuff about yourself and never link to your account from other accounts

LemmyHead,

That is part of the problem though. Proper privacy allows you to express what you want to, without self censorship. The issue is not: don’t speak about x, but rather: speak about it and feel comfortable that you can do it in a safe environment. I fully agree with the account linking though

gianni, in A good, privacy respecting and FOSS PDF viewer for Android?

MuPDF comes by default on CalyxOS, and is what I use.

willya, in What site can scan sites for trackers?
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

I thought most of the modern browsers had this ability built in?

dysprosium,

I don’t think browsers are able to detect as much and easily as a dedicated website can. Anyway, these dedicated website detectors can also be used BEFORE visiting the site, providing more protection

willya,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

Interesting. I’d like to find what you’re looking for and compare what shows on mine.

dysprosium, (edited )

You using special scripts / add-ons? Or bare browser?

Yeh okay what does your super computer say about e.g. mathpix.com ?

willya,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

Standard three google ones and one for jsdelivr.net

dysprosium, (edited )

So no mention of “3 ad trackers”, “4 third-party cookies”? Which is additionally reported by blacklight

willya,
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

The 3 ad trackers are also in that cookie count with jsdelivr. But no it does not break it down into separate sections.
