I’m surprised Facebook etc weren’t already doing this.

On a bit of a tangent, isn’t it amazing that Apple and Google make WebView components that allow enough JavaScript injection to compromise your privacy, but restrict developers from making decent, comprehensive ad blocking for browsers using the same engines…

ETA: in late 2022, this was described as a privacy concern. Now it’s a reality.

Opting into ‘link history’ on Facebook and Instagram means agreeing to (more) ad targeting

Opting out of FB and Instagram altogether will save you having to opt out of individual features like this

I dropped both in November when they asked me to pay more than I do Netflix just to stop showing me ads (not even to stop tracking me!)

The amount of extra time that I gained overnight is scary. I’ve already read/listened to 10 books since and it’s been almost 20 years since I last finished a book!
