xyguy,

This is just what happens when you’re exposed to League for more than 20 minutes.

This guy has a good take on linux companies, agree or disagree? (www.youtube.com)

Kent right here talks about how Linux related companies need to focus on putting their resources towards collaborating and helping big companies port their software and THEN introduce open source software to new users instead of remaking desktop environments, pushing companies away, and overall doing the same thing over and...

xyguy,

I think a lot of people get caught up in wanting Linux to “win” be getting more market share or getting XYZ software ported to Linux but Linux is doing great. Unlike Microsoft aggressively pushing Windows and sacrificing their own users on the altar of market share, Linux can just be.

More share would be great and greater software availability would be awesome but Linux doesn’t need to “beat” Windows or Mac to be useful or relevant or good. It already is. And I for one look forward to any new DE’s that anyone wants to make.

It would be nice to get some kind of more usable CAD program on Linux though but it’s not up to Pop_OS to do that, it’s up to Autodesk or a team of extremely talented FOSS programmers or a Blender Foundation situation where the whole industry commits to a new open standard.

xyguy,

Wikimedia foundation and Propublica. Also just local food banks.

xyguy,

I am yes.

xyguy,

I saw that in the docs. I am only interested in encoding in AV1. My CPU is a 5900x so it’s decent enough at decoding. I’ll check ffmpeg settings.

xyguy,

I’ll check the ffmpeg settings. Thanks.

xyguy,

Is Ubuntu deserving the hate? (lemmy.ml)

Long story short, I have a desktop with Fedora, lovely, fast, sleek and surprisingly reliable for a near rolling distro (it failed me only once back around Fedora 34 or something where it nuked Grub). Tried to install on a 2012 i7 MacBook Air… what a slog!!! Surprisingly Ubuntu runs very smooth on it. I have been bothering all...

xyguy,

I also have had trouble during upgrades in the past.

I’ll have to disagree about the purple and orange theme though. I’m personally a big fan.

xyguy,

Solok woke up the day he went to DS9 and chose all the violence that logic would allow.

xyguy,

Maybe its a classic situation of failing upwards. They suck too much to keep a ship of people alive but not enough to be kicked out of Starfleet, well they are getting into their sixties, what do we do? Promote them I guess, unless it’s Harry Kim.

Meanwhile the ones that are amazing at their jobs like O’Brien are stuck at Chief Petty Officer.

xyguy,

He would have probably done well writing for the Klingon version of J Peterman honestly.

xyguy,

That’s really neat. You’ve already got an Arduino in there, add an esp32 and connect it to Homeassistant!

I agree it’s nice to fix something that big and save the garbage that it could have produced.

xyguy,

The main guy on this episode seems like a 1980s wrestler. Especially with the shiny outfit.

xyguy,

Green bean casserole absolutely. I have never had a good version of it. Your version sounds better but I’d say it’s a flawed concept.

My most hated was white beans and ham with cornbread. It ruined both the ham and beans and smelled like hot dog water. I ended up just eating cornbread and pushing the beans and ham around until I could be excused.

Also creamed spinach. It looked and smelled like I had already puked it up.

xyguy,

Same here. Cannot stand pasta salad. Ironically I love cold macaroni and cheese though so I don’t know exactly what way my brain is short-circuited.

xyguy, (edited )

Lets just say that the theme song is so bad, that I was burning through every Star Trek show my first time watching. Next Gen-Boom, TOS-POW, Voyager-Ehh OK!, Deep Space Nine-WOAH. Then when I got to Enterprise I had such a visceral reaction to the theme song on the first episode that I never continued the show. Its a very stupid reason I know, but its my reason, and I am going to need a much more compelling reason ever to return.

We need a “Star Wars Despecialized Editon” of Enterprise where the only thing they change is the theme song.

Edit: Alright everyone you talked me into it, my local library has the Enterprise DVDs so I’ll give them a go. And I’ll even listen to the theme song. 🖖

xyguy,

Yeah I know. It’s definitely a me problem. I’m sure one day I’ll come around.

It’s been a long time after all…maybe my time is finally here.

xyguy,

I swear to Kahless you are watching DS9 at the exact same pace as I am. Every time I see a watch an episode I see a meme from you the next day from it. It’s crazy!

xyguy,

Haha that’s kind of been my cadence too. I had to take a break after the episode where Kai WInn became the pope and the president at the same time. Shes just too much sometimes.

Just so we can sync up, I am on the episode where Gul Dukat and Kira go on an expedition to find the lost prisoner ship. Haha.

xyguy,

I wouldn’t mind letting James Wan have a crack at a Star Trek film though. He made decent work of Aquaman and Malignant is basically already a Star Trek TNG type of plot.

xyguy,

This is pure propaganda. I happen to know that this man helped out the Nazis while on a cordrazine bender!

xyguy,

Now look see what you’ve done here, I’m down another Wikipedia rabbit hole!
