Sure, you may have a 10-gallon hat, but do you have a 10-gallon milk carton?

I’m surprised that giraffe spots are more distinguished than a giraffe’s face, in giraffe culture, of which I know nothing about.

Not sure how he’s getting that spoonful of Acacia-Os to his mouth, but it’s a funny one.

Never understood this one

dragonfly,

Cows are often described as content, with phases like “chewing contentedly on its cud.”

Infinity187, in 27 November 2023

Wow, you’re blocked.

Purge planet all over again

heeplr, in 21 November 2023

“Donner” means “thunder” in german.

Is that relating to some old immigrant tale?

killeronthecorner,
@killeronthecorner@lemmy.world avatar

One thunder kebab please

heeplr,

that’d be “Döner Kebab”, döner being turkish for “rotating”.

Traditional german dish brought by turkish immigrants. :-)

killeronthecorner,
@killeronthecorner@lemmy.world avatar

It’s “donner” in the UK. Otherwise the joke would be worse than it already is!

DillyDaily,

I don’t understand the message or joke of the cartoon itself, but George Donner was of German decent.

“The Donner party” is the name given to a series of events and dumb decisions in the 1840s that lead to 39 of the 87 American pioneers in the party dying from exposure, starvation, disease, and cannibalism when they ignored expert advice and took a “shortcut” to California, getting trapped in the snow.

fibojoly,

a series of events that led to Americans dying when they ignored expert advice…

Thus starting a fine tradition!

floofloof,

Then I guess the joke is that no one would want a snow dome representing a miserable and disastrous event that happened in snow. Ho hum.

Thank you for continuing to post these. Sometimes they are confusing and sometimes they are amazing (like this one), but I love reading them regardless.

Very welcome and I’m in the same boat. Some I’m dying laughing, others get a chuckle and others I don’t get. I do appreciate the ones we don’t get as well, as someone usually chimes in with an explanation.

waigl, in 21 November 2023

I don’t get this one…

igg,

Its the trope that someone doesn’t like when another adds vegetables to an unhealthy/meaty meal, combined with the absurdness that the same thing happened in caveman times

gmtom, in 25 November 2023

🤣🤣🤣🤣 oh my god my sides 🤣🤣🤣🤣 i can’t 🤣🤣🤣
