Forgive me, but I don’t believe political affiliation is a protected class–protected classes are the only things people can’t discriminate based on. So like, race, sex, religion are protected, but democrat/republican/green party aren’t protected. Businesses can legally discriminate against non-protected classes. It’s just usually a bad business strategy to turn customers away.
Edit: the second sign is definitely more questionable, as it does specifically discriminate based on beliefs. I was mostly focused on the first sign.
Bit embarrassed to admit this, but I used to seriously believe I had the ability to read woman’s minds.
I used to walk into a party/bar and instantly know if I was going to have sex with a particular woman. This was virtually infallible. (Disclaimer: This didn’t happen every time I went to a party, nor did I necessarily choose the woman, but every time I felt that feeling I was right.)
Turns out many years later I realized I just had a good understanding of woman’s body language. And could tell when a woman found me attractive enough, and was horny enough, to let me pick her up.
FTR I do feel foolish for ever thinking I had some supernatural ability with women, but I was somewhat attractive and charming, so that went to my head.
In real life people trust me, even if they don’t know me. It’s the middle aged white lady superpower. Apparently we are the group of people who are deployed to do surveys about personal habits, health, sex, because people trust us.
When younger (and still to some extent) I also seem to get picked out of crowds way more often than statistically normally for things where performers are choosing someone from a crowd. My mom thought it was remarkable, there could be a thousand kids in an audience but always I was picked out to go on stage. And no, I am not exceptional looking, it was not due to looks.
Do you like a tactile click? Are you a sucker for screws? Or something you can put in any direction? Maybe it's yours or another country's power plugs?...
“The only thing to abuse is moderation” - A song quoting Sénèque, but I never found the original sentence from Sénèque (apparently he was talking about Sex in it but I think it applies to anything in life)
Maybe actually, I don't know, talk to women. You'd realise that not every woman wants that type of person. But with the fact the first part of your comment is about how women can be better sex objects, maybe stay away from women.
I know it is not your question but… Everyone says pockets for women’s fashion but that is not the most important. At least here in the US the most important is having proper sizes on clothes.
For the most part men’s clothes let you pick things right. You know your waist and inseam for pants, and often have a proper size for shirts and collars.
Women’s fashion often has no size other than the ambiguous s/m/l/xl indicator and teen/woman’s/plus often use the same tag to indicate wildly different sizes. On top of that, when close use a measurement it is not grounded in reality, so a 14 at one shop may be a 16 at another, and neither are a direct measure of your waist. Finally women’s pants only come in 3 lengths (petite, tall, or not specified) and it is difficult to find most combinations.
The best thing we could do for fashion in any sex is to standardize sizes globally and make them all based on a tape measure measurement. That way you could buy 32x30 pants online knowing they will fit, no matter the brand.
Any Timothy Zahn books are quite good. I love Thrawn.
iirc, in the 90’s the older books had a set of guidelines they had to adhere to, like no stories that take place before episode 4, or Luke couldn’t have sex, I don’t remember much more than that, but I think they were pretty free to tell any story if they stayed within the guidelines.
– People choose to share nudes or go into porn for a very wide variety of reasons, and you should not be assuming anything about their self-esteem, dignity or self-worth, because you don’t know them or anything about them other than they chose a different lifestyle than yours.
I have an entire friend group that shares nudes like it’s selfies because for us it’s just body parts like any other and we can admire the beauty of the human body. No feelings of vice or dirtiness involved whatsoever. I can go around seeing naked people and just appreciate the beauty without feeling dirty or even thinking about sexual intercourse and look respectfully. I feel comfortable being naked around my friends, I’ve been around friends literally hooking up next to me, it’s no big deal at all. I’m cute you’re cute, do you wanna sword fight? I’ll happily talk about my sexual life (within respect of privacy of course). I’ll talk you through your kitty issues and not think any differently. It’s healthy in my opinion.
IMO healthy porn exists, there’s a whole world between anti porn and hardcore fetish porn. I see nothing wrong with a casual pair of boobies or a dick.
Some people are indoctrinated by religion to feel like their body is dirty and needs to be hidden away, and feel shame to even think about sex or feel sexually stimulated by anyone but their spouse, and that’s okay if that’s their choice. And for some people it’s just normal life stuff. I personally think religion is harmful and worthless but I don’t go around calling people practicing it low life sheeps with no self worth or sexually frustrated closeted perverts.
enjoy your sex trip and I wish you happy bottoming! if you're not going to be doing too much physical labor during this time I recommend going full bottom mode: the week ahead of it start eating very lightly, initially a high fiber diet with added psyllium husk or metamucil. your body might be different but mine would say no dairy during this time. for the day before or even two, switch to a meatless and somewhat low fiber diet - ramen noodles is a classic, cookies, soup, other carbs. before you leave for the trip, clean out with an enema bulb (or store bought enemas if your ass is bougie or inexperienced). the combination of low fiber and low food throughput should keep you from having to poop and whatever poop is still in your tract will get largely removed by the enema.
while you're out at your fuck-tent, consume most of your calories from simple carbs as much as your body will handle so as to give your microbiome less to work with - applesauce is kinda nice, fruit snacks, white bread. eat like a twink!
remember to stay hydrated!! I know you're not trying to pee either but it's important to hydrate even if it means suffering whatever penalty your dom is giving you when you ask to be let out to pee
Sort of hard to say. I grew up an illegal immigrant in a big city. When I was 6 or so my parents would bring me with them when they went out to clean offices at night.
I pulled a fire alarm at like 1am without knowing what it was and my parents hid me in the trunk of the car. Told me to be quiet. They didn’t speak English and were afraid the cops could take me away.
I got hit with the belt a few times. When I was around 12 I tried to fight my dad during a belting and got my ass beat.
Also when I was around 12 I was in a car accident on the highway in an SUV that flipped 4 times. Everyone went to the hospital except for me, I was perfectly fine.
I was in Vegas with my brother for his 21st once and he had spent all his money. We were in the airport on the way back and there are slot machines there. He asked me to borrow some money to play some slots- he said if he’d win he would share with me.
On the last $2 bet he hit a jackpot and we each got $600
One time I was playing pool at the bar in my early 20s and hopped a ball to make the game winning shot on the 8 ball - won $50. It was beautiful. I rode that high for a week.
Speaking of high, I also overdosed on heroin (fentanyl, really) and was revived with Narcan in an ambulance once. That was a very confusing experience. Coming to slowly with many lights and people in uniforms around you.
I’ve been robbed before, with 2 guys grabbing me by each arm while a 3rd goes through my pockets. While they talked shit I just stayed quiet.
I’ve gotten in bar fights and have been kicked out of bars. I stood up for a friend at a house party at around 18 and got my ass beat because of it. He was too scared to do anything. Around that same time period I had a short couple months long fling with a woman in her 40s. I felt like a badass at 18 but nowadays I look back and it was weird.
I’ve done intramuscular ketamine injections with exactly the right dosage to be under anesthetic - aka khole. I’ve done a lot of drugs - nothing in my life has ever come close. I’ve also done two cycles of steroids. I’ve never had so much sex as during those cycles. During this time period I caught chlamydia & gono.
Also I made like $5,000 on Dogecoin and like $3,000 on Bepro. (Easily lost more than that overall with coins)
Those are some arguably crazy things that have happened to me. I’m not sure if my life is tame compared to the average. I guess it all depends on perspective. I know people who have seen much more craziness out of life.
Brought to you by my discovery that some people think that “the customer is always right” isn’t the slogan of a long-dead department store, but rather it’s an actual call the cops law.
Ehhh, I think it’s probably more likely that you can’t discriminate on specific factors like age, religion, sex, skin colour, etc.
I just can’t see “most places” having laws that force you to deal with any and all aholes in customer service. Could I have a source on that, please? I have never heard of that before.
A butterfly effect is the phenomeon that a small change in initial conditions that leads to a significantly different result than if the initial conditions haven’t been changed. Have you personally witnessed such phenomeon?...
Oooh as a communist… where to even start. Most of this is US/anglo centric…
Actually read fucking theory. Most of it was literally written for 19th century German factory workers with a third grade education who worked 16 hour shifts in the orphan crushing factory. When people say this it isn’t because they want to feel smart, it’s because you’re saying dumb shit that got litigated out in like the '60s and you sound like a moron.
This does not include “video essays” on “breadtube.” If I wanted something explained to me badly by a pedophile I’d join NAMBLA.
For the love of all that is holy, read something written after the second World War. Vast intellectual strides have been made in the past several decades. We do not need to relitigate the fucking Sino-Soviet split in the year of our Lord 2023. They both kinda fucking sucked. Read Debord. Read Tiqqun for all I care. But if I get handed one more Trotskyist zine I’m gonna fucking lose it.
Any modern communist party, especially in the imperial core, is probably dogshit. The IMT are sex abusers, PSL has terrible politics, and I’m not even gonna touch the western Maoists.
We are not in an era of resurgence for the Left. Comparing the intellectual and political influence of the Left in e.g. the '70s vs today is straight up depressing. The average SNCC/BPP member could run circles around 90% of Twitter “Leftists” while ripping a fat joint of the worst dirt weed known to man.
Anti-intellectualism is an extremely bad look. We should seek to deeply understand as much of the world as possible, not fall back on misunderstanding and anecdotes. That isn’t to say that the modern state of academia isn’t godawful, but forming opinions off screenshots of headlines does not lead to a coherent worldview.
For anarchists especially: stop fetishizing mob violence. “Death penalty without trial for alleged rapists!” is not a progressive opinion, and will give free reign to the worst elements in society.
Horizontal organization is not a panacea for State repression. While the BLM protests would have been more immune to COINTELPRO than was the BPP, it was dead easy for the government to shut them down through standard curfews and kettling because the whole thing was so goddamn disorganized.
While deplatforming is often effective as a tactic, it can easily be turned around on the Left. Big business is only your friend so long as it’s profitable, and will kick you off as soon as an advertiser complains about anti-landlord discrimination or some dumb shit.
Opposition to technology is also not a progressive viewpoint. It is important to separate a given technology from who owns it. Computing can be used to democratize production and allocate resources – the fact that it is primarily used to further the aims of the capitalist class is an implementation detail of the present economic system. Personally, I’m gonna keep taking aspirin even though it’s manufactured by Big Pharma.
“Shrill panic” is not a good tone, especially when your understanding of the facts is limited. Would Fred Hampton have had a meltdown on main because some junior state senator in Idaho proposed a piece of legislation that was clearly never going to make it to a vote? No? Ok so shut the fuck up then.
US pigs are terrible, but that isn’t a unique phenomenon. “Of course the French can protest that good, they don’t have US police!” sir the French police literally love beating protestors to within an inch of their life, you sound like an idiot.
It’s not enough to say “thing sucks.” You have to come up with something better. And that’s often fucking hard, but incredibly worthwhile.
I truly do have optimism that we can build a better world. Every once in a while, it shines through the cracks: kids partying in the street while cops look on powerless, a little old lady cheering from the window while marchers chant “fuck 12,” even a single trans person finding a community that accepts them wholeheartedly.
But damn do you internet mfs make it hard sometimes.

My partner gave the reply “No, we’re just practicing”, the lady looked horrified. You asked about a near stranger’s sex life, lady. I don’t know what she expected.
I believe some comedian suggested to respond with a similar vulgar question about their sex life. I think that’s a fair point.
Tho you can always ask them if their first question to a stranger is a deeply personal one to get their own perversions fed. That way you are still on the high horse :)
I just jumped onto lemmy.world on PC during lunch break and got some sick images popping up (some guy stating he raped a child in the woods) and old men having sex. I stopped there. Is Lemmy under attack or? I’m on mobile now and it hasn’t happened here.
This question may be moot but it’s something I’ve been thinking about. I’ve only recently jumped into this brave new world so you’ll have to forgive my ignorance....
There’s a lot of factors to consider, enough factors that there’s no consensus on how you make this choice and at the end of the day you have to pick one and run with it.
A random list of some factors you could potentially consider before yolo’ing:
Is the admin team good? Are they power-tripping jerks? Are they ideologues who are likely to defederate the world for no sensible reason? Do they have a good head for policy? There’s no easy way to evaluate this, you have to look at the sidebar to see who the admins are, stalk their posts a bit, read the modlog for banned users (but he aware that moderation decisions are federated and anonymous so it can be hard to tell what mod did what), and you yourself have to be good enough at these things to recognize quality (or at least alignment with your own values).
Is the instance well-funded and is the admin team prepared to deal with the serious stuff like child-porn reports and subpoenas? Again, this is hard to check for. Basically, if an instance has been pretty big for years (there are only like 2 or 3 Lemmy instances like this and they’re all overloaded) or has the admin team run some other big service before?
Are the instance rules compatible with your topic? Don’t run a porn sub in an instance that bans porn. There are vibe concerns as well, like an edgelord meme community is not going to do well on a hyper-moderated safe-space-oriented instance.
Is the community topic geographically based? You might want to pick an instance homed in that geography. This can be eval’ed by using ip-lookup tools of the instance doesn’t advertise its geography.
Is the instance homed in a jurisdiction that has favorable laws for your topic? It’s better to host a community for sex-work or bourbon on an instance in a jurisdiction where those things are legal, rather than in the UAE.
Is there a topic instance that specializes in your topic? There’s a pathfinder TTRPG instance and a star trek instance, is there one for your topic? Note that topic-based instances can fail some other and more important criteria like being an experienced admin team. It’s possible that a topic instance is NOT the right choice, but it’s worth considering.
Is the server overloaded already? Mebbe pick a different one.
Is there already a well run community on another instance? Help that one grow, don’t splinter the community further.
There are many more factors to consider, and no one considers them all. Eventually you have to pick an instance that’s “good enough” and run with it. But those are some of the major factors one could consider if you’re willing to put in the non-trivial amount of effort required to evaluate them.
