Yeah, IDK if things are like this in the US and other western countries, but it’s how they are here. Shit is cheaper on every other day except when there are discounts 😒. There are some execeptions, but yes, most of the time, things are cheaper when not on a discount.
How old is the Asus monitor? This might also be a hardware problem, bad caps related. Digital equipment is sensitive to power voltage fluctuations, and when bad caps are in the picture, even more so, making the equpment do all sorts of inexplainable things, like how could one thing I do on this monitor reflect on what the other monitor does or doesn’t. In most cases, a small ground loop or a fluctuation caused by one of the monitors draining power when being turned on or off, might affect what the other one does or doesn’t, if it alredy has failing caps. I’ve seen similar things happen on dual monitor setups when one of them has failing caps. One turns on just fine the other one doesn’t, but you power them in reverse order, hey they work 😂.
But, on the other hand Windows is not open source as well and I have to use it for work or an oddball proogram here and there that just doesn’t run on Wine.
Hell, people also use a lot of closed source code in their Linux installs as well. Let’s strat with drivers and firmware binary blobs, printer drivers (binary blobs as well, depends on manufacturer) and end with NLE software like DaVinci Resolve… we use binary blobs all the time, including our phones, and even though none of us asked for that, but instead was shoved down our throat in order to be able to live in a modern society, no one seems to complain about that… but, when a random stranger suggest using something, oh no, that thing most definitely is something malicious 😒.
Run it in a sandbox for a while, see if it calls home. If it does try to call, block it with a firewall, is that so hard 😒… though I’ve never seen it even try to call home or do something malicious, and as I said, I’ve been using it for years. Also, people use a lot of their products, I have yet to see one complaint regarding any of their products doing something malcious.
I seriosly think that a psychologist or a therapist would be one of the few jobs that will never get replaced by AI… or at least not in the near future (10 years or so).
